Say you bill is due on the 1st of the month but the grace period is 15 days, so on the 16th of the month if you still haven't paid the bill they will report you late on the payment to the credit bureaus.

at my local library, they charge .25 cents per day when a book is late. but they give us a 3 day grace period, so we are not charged until those 3 days pass.
