I currently work in Macys (Cosmetics Dept) I make $11.00 plus commission.

I got a job offer from a jewelry store to make $14.00 per hour.

I have been working for Macys for about 8 months now and I dont have much stress.

I am scared to change and then not like it and lose it all.

What should I look at before changing?

I'm looking for work and also use the computer to job search. Is it just me, or have the job ads been disappearing? There are hardly any new ones. And now when a lot of people are going back to school and leaving jobs there should be more. Is the stock market crisis to blame?

In my job, I am the "Office Manager", which includes the usual. But lately I have been so put down in snide ways, like my boss saying "You're so young and immature, you just don't know what you're doing yet." I have been here nearly half a year, and have messed up NOTHING. They have also had me cold calling businesses, and working manually in 100+ degree weather. Is this something I should actually be upset about or am I just being, ahem, "immature"?

After 5 years my job was cut due to decreasing enrollment, and I have been the finalist on many other interviews over the summer, but now school is starting and I still do not have a job. I went back to school after being in construction, and have my Master's in Education and my Bachelor's in History, but decided to use my brain instead of my back too support my family. I'm not afraid of doing the hard work again, but I grew to love teaching more.

Is there anything out there that a guy with my qualifications can do for work and get benefits for my family while living in Connecticut?

after what seemed to be a pleasant and positive interview. I was told I was passed over for the job by someone who had "previous meter reading experience". Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't meter reading another form of an over-glorified paper route, with a tad more responsibility?

I don't really like my job because there is never enough work to do and I'm always bored. The commute is also way too long for the amount of money I'm getting paid.

I need some good solutions so I can still get a good referral.

I'm a college undergrad who is looking for an internship for summer 2008. In your opinion, is GE a good place to intern, and possibly work after graduation? Please provide anecdotal or empirical data to support your opinion (any answers not containing relevant data will be given a "thumbs down").

I just got a job offer for a new job but I am wondering if I should leave my current one. I will get better pay and comprable benefits. But I will have to travel about 30 min one way to work. Where I now only travel 15-20 depending on traffic and it is a lot closer to where I live. At my current job it is in a small office with only 4 people. I have requested to have some time off recently for my brothers wedding and it was almost not given to me. At the new job it will be a call-center so lots of people but I wont have any time off for 6 months. I really dont know what to do. Please help!

PLEASE DO NOT REFER ME TO A SALARY WEBSITE!!!

I really want to hear opinions from real people--- especially if you are an accountant, or work in HR!!

Thanks! Here are the details.

Firm is a public accounting firm, small to mid-sized, estimated CPA's on staff is 12-20. Location is downtown Milwaukee, WI. Benefits, besides the typical package of healthcare etc... include 100% paid parking, 3 weeks vacation, 3 personal days, and every other Friday off during slow season. The position requires 2300 (billable?) hours per year. 55 hours per week during tax season.

The applicant is a recent college graduate, with a 4-year degree in accounting. CPA candidate, ready to sit for the exam in 6 months. Has 3 years internship experience in the field-- but no public accounting experience. GPA of 3.3/4.0, with 150 credits.

What are your thoughts on Salary for this position? Low end? High End? Where are your drawing your conclusions from?

THANKS!!!

I'm looking for a part-time retail job. I'm 16 years old and all of the jobs ask for experience.
How am I supposed to get some if I can't get a job in the first place?
Are there any recommended ways of getting one at my age?
I have tried asking around, phoning businesses, recruitment websites and still no luck.

Please help! :)

Thankyou.

P.S: In case, you're an American or of another nationality, and so may not know, in England we finish school at 16, I am not dropping out of school, I will be entering College in September.

I had to add this, since I've seen previous questions where those who were asking, were practically abused online since they were thought of as being 'quitters' or refusing to finish school. =]

Thanks again!

I was working 40 + hours a week for about 9 months at a job where I was very stressed and kind of unhappy. Then I decided to go back to school to get my Masters and I asked my boss if he'd be OK with me only working at the minimum 30 hours a week to go to school (I always end up with about 32 hours). He said that was OK, and if it presented a problem they would let me know and give me sufficient time to find another job. Nobody has said anything to me so far.
My classes end this week and I have not decided if I am going to take Fall classes or night classesbut the thing is, EVEN if I don't take classes, I do not want to have to work 40+ hours a week. I am content, no I am very sa at 30, My husband and I are making enough money. I am soooooo much more happy with 30 hours, and I feel better, I've stopped ripping out my nails and hair, I am eating better and just MUCH happier.

we have just had confirmation from the "grape vine" that we are going to be made redundant. The catch is we are not being told if we are going to be paid.
What would you do? And any help on redundancy would be appreciated?

I started my job with the firm I work for 2years and 2months ago. A colleague started here 11 months ago. She started on pretty much the same starting salary that I did, but I found out yesterday that she makes more money than me. Only about £500 a year but it's still injustice as she doesn't work harder than me, and I was on more than her when she started here.

I can't confront my manager as we're not allowed to discuss pay, and I can't report her for doing that as she's my friend. Everyone says she's her managers favourite. But there's really no reason for that. It's true but I can't understand why her manager likes her so much, she doesnt work that hard, and her managers straight so she wouldnt fancy her.

What can I do?
