You dont really need experience.Just when you go for an interview show yourself as interested in the store and what you would be doing and as a mature and level headed person.
It also helps to know a bit about the store incase they ask you something about it...it helps to show interest.
Sales associates are good jobs. Also things like receptionist if you are computer literate are quite good to go for.
Good luck

If you're in college, which is a great added detail, I would recommend applying for a job at the college. There are likely jobs in the athletic department, in the President's office, in the Memorial Union, or in the college offices themselves. This might sound boring, but you will get experience that will look outstanding on your resume once you are through with college (and will really help you get that first job when you graduate). As well, you will meet a lot more other students than you think by working within the college, and be close to your classes or whatever obligations you have on campus. Working in the mall sounds fun, but you will work with people who are less educated and whose goals in life will vary from yours. Now is the time to immerse yourself in either educated or professional people. If you want to make tremendous amounts of money, I would also try waitressing (if you aren't grossed out easily and if you don't mind that some people are going to be rude to you). Once you are older, restaurants will look to hire waitresses that have had experience since their first year in college. Hope this helps.

Nordstrom is a company to get into, you must be 18+ to work for that company, great benefits and no experience required in some departments. Such as operator.
Grocery store is alright, however, it doesn't pay as well as they did before the strikes. It's a harder work environment and not worth it if you ask me.
Another place you might want to try is receptionist positions. They are simple, basic computer and phone knowledge and can start of anywhere from $9-15 dollars, depending on experience.
Last place I would suggest is Starbucks or In-&-Out.I heard they start off at a far rate and you also get benefits, no experience required.

Well if you plan on going to college part-time jobs such as department stores are great because of the flexibility and usually want younger people for part-time as it is cheaper on their end. The level experience really depends on the actual store like more expensive upper class stores would probably want older more experienced associates so stick to malls and younger generations type of places. For example American Eagle or Hollister.

Hi;
Depending on where you live jobs are very scarce. I know here in Florida they are. Especially when you don't have experience. Try to have someone that you know or a good friend to give in a word for you. If you know someone with a business ask him to give you a try at least for the experience.
But, never let them down if they do you this favor.
In the mean time I invite you to go take a look at this site. It fits you well. Free to join, great money and free gifts for you like xbox360, computers, playstation, ipods and so on.
I know you will love it. It's honest and not a scam. It's totally free, you got nothing to loose but a lot to gain.
Good luck always.

Get certified as a lifeguard and you'll be able to pick and choose your job. Of course it's seasonal, depending on where you live. Even in winter there are some indoor pool jobs. A related thing that isn't seasonal is being a CPR trainer. You'll be self-employed. You'll need a car, a TV, a phone and some other things that aren't free. Check out americanlifeguard.com about both things.

I had the same experience as you, and I finally got a job after I asked to speak with the manager, and delivered my application in person. Try that, especially if there is a store for a field that you know a lot about.

Try waiting tables, and if you find yourself a place with both (A) a "lead server" posistion and (B) a high turnover rate, it can be easy to start getting "Management experience" for the future, but only if your willing to work hard while your at work.
