write: "Thank you for inviting me to interview with your company, but I have decided to pursue another opportunity at this time. I very much appreciate the confidence you have shown in me and I very much enjoyed the contact I had with your company."

You could say " I have decided to stay with my current company." or " I have decided to take a position at Citibank." or whatever.

First off if you don't want to burn a bridge with this company I would highly recommend calling the person whom you have the interview with. Let him/her know you a grateful for the interview opportunity, however you are entertaining other job prospects at this time and regretfully have to decline their interview.

Also let them know to keep you in mind for any other career opportunities in the future. I believe you gain more respect from a company by contacting them over the phone.

The truth

At this time I am no longer interested in the position and do not want to waste your time with an interview.

Just thank them for the offer of the interview, but you would like to withdraw your application for the post... give reason(s) if you want.
