It might be different in England, here I'd say go to the malls and shopping centers, talk to every business, and ask for an application. Even if they're not hiring, fill them all out and submit them.
Tons of people get jobs for being at the right place at the right time. If you're asking, someone will be looking.
I'd say to start close to home, and keep the search growing in an ever expanding circle. Don't lie on the application and say you do have experience, but if they ask you, then you should have some kind of example of why you think you'd be good at retail.

There are always retail jobs about because the pay is generally poor. try the employment exchange or apply direct to a supermarket. Do you know anyone working for a shop? Personal recommendation from a present employee helps.
If you are going to college locally you will find that a supermarket can be very helpful in relation to shifts around your college work

It is a matter of patience and continuing to look around . There are many businesses that will take on part time workers to cover over holidays and busy periods but most of these roles go to children of existing workers .
You could try writing a letter to a number of your local retail outlets and asking about the possibility of part time work
Good Luck

Phone calls and websites are unlikely to be successful landing the type of unskilled jobs you are qualified for.
Go to the businesses (retail or food service most likely) during non-busy times for them and inquire in person. Be clean cut, nicely dressed but not dressed up, have impeccable manners and if they say no (and lots will) ask when you can check back to see if things have changed.
It may help to put together a 'resume' of volunteer work or special skills. Also, if you have friends, family, friends of family or family of friends who own businesses see if you can get an 'in' to a first job through them. It's tough, but not impossible to get your first job, we all have to do this once.
My mom's friend helped me get my first job, cleaning and stocking shelves at a hardware store.

Doing an online business requires a lot of work and some initial research. And yes, working from home is very easy. I can't stress enough the importance of starting out with something you really enjoy doing yourself - if you enjoy it, you'll be willing to put time into making it unique, which will lead to success on its own. There are actuallymake money online. The Best Part Is that there is NO INVESTENT. Hope this helps you.

Well, since you're done with school, you probably have more opportunity than a kid in america your age. Check the help wanted ads in the newspaper, and see if anything jumps out at you. I'm your age and considering playing an instrument on the street, but you'd need to check if you need a permit.

I am a pub landlord and regulally employ 16-17 year olds to glass collect for me at the weekends. Pop into your local pub... after asking your parents if it's ok and asking them what the customers are like ( if there's any trouble ). And ask for a glass collecting job. You will learn alot about the pub industry.. have fun and will possibly get some training for pub work in the future! ( always helpful if you go to university ) Good luck xx

You may not get the job you want, as a first job. Try working fast food... and working hard. If you're promoted to supervisor or manager then you have something to put down as experience.. even if it isnt in the retail industry.

Of course you can get a job at 16! Have you baby sat before? Because if you apply for a job they do ask about previous employment and guess what? Babysitting is a job so if you've done that before put it down because it shows that you've got enthusiasm about working and responsibility also have you ever worked on neighbours lawns or anything else because guess what? put that down too. I wish you the best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!

I worked at mcdonals since i was 15 through college. now i have a great job. Jobs will look at it as a plus b/c you have people experience, stuck something through, good with customer service, workign on a team, but being indpeendent and good under pressure. also--they work around your schedule, which will be good if you are goin to college and will be busy with studies.
