My gosh, what opportunity awaits you!! You could easily start home tutoring or even on-line tutoring if you were adventurous!!
I would go for it, if I were you!!

RE:
I am an unemployed teacher. What other job options do I have?
After 5 years my job was cut due to decreasing enrollment, and I have been the finalist on many other interviews over the summer, but now school is starting and I still do not have a job. I went back to school after being in construction, and have my Master's in Education and my Bachelor's...

There isn't a blanket answer for this. I have friends in education in Florida who can not get jobs. It all depends where exactly she wants to live. The biggest demands in education are for speech therapists, high school math and science teachers, and foreign languages especially Spanish and Chinese. She may want to consider be a speech therapist if she is absolutely insistent on wanting to stay in a particular area, wants to work with the elementary age, and wants a higher starting pay. I really would not encourage anyone to just go be an elementary school teacher unless the live in an area with extreme shortages for teachers.

Teaching experience is a great asset to have. There are many businesses which would value highly your background. Decide the best way to bring money in for the near-term, but focus your vision on your future to maximize what your real potantial is.
Don't ever undervalue youself. Think outside the box and you will find what you are looking for.

There's tons of teacher jobs in CT. Did you try other schools and The Board of Ed for teaching jobs that are available in your area or not in your area?
People who tutor make a lot of money. My uncle get charged 600.00 per session from the tutor tutoring his daughter.
Being a sub is cool but with your qualifications you need something more legit than that. What about the colleges?

Perhaps retail management, as your experience in the classroom may be a plus for a shop who needs a responsible boss, or a teacher's aide - at least those posts will get you in a classroom. Unfortunately, you may have to relocate to a state where there are teaching shortages.

If you're willing to relocate, then try Nevada. Plenty of teacher jobs out there. Good luck

You should consider tutoring. My mother has been having the same problem finding a job in the teaching field. She got a part-time teaching job in the mornings and supplements it with $20/hr tutoring from 3:00-6:00pm almost every day.

Either tutoring or substitute teaching. Or if you play an instrument, teach that. But if I were you, I wouldn't be picky, and just grab any job I can to hold me over until I can get my job back.
