I've been working at a restaurant for 2 1/2 months now; I am the HR Manager, Office Manager, Secretary, and Cashier. My title however is only Secretary but my responsibilities are all of the above. My boss keeps adding things to my list of responsibilities and he never changes my title or raises my pay. When anything wrong happens he calls me at home or anywhere and basically tells me it's my fault. Recently I have asked for a raise due to my husband having to quit his job to go to college, my boss basically said "I've been working here for only 2 months, I can find someone to do your job for 2 dollars less an hour than what I am paying you." What should I do, should I get another job or just stay at this one?

If you could go back to school, what degree would you get to ensure that you will be able to obtain a good job with decent pay. Where will all of the jobs be in the next 20 years with above average salaries?

I didnt finished high school and I am not going back there. never. so I'm looking for some job but I cant find anything or they wont accept me.

I was thinking military or a security guard but thats the problem. I am shy, I was bullyied in every school I went to. through whole my life I was seeing those therapists to help me and make me more bold, but there wasnt any progress at all. I'm naturally shy.

so then I could work in some store but I dont want to work with customers everyday cause I'm shy. I have got no idea what to say, I even shop online or I tell my mate to shop for me.

I dont wanna go back to school cause they always judge about how silent I am, even teachers. and I dont want to study cause I'm not that smart. I can learn some things but not much. everyone isnt a perfect A student. and dont look at the avatar, I'm not that pretty eitha, so being a model or something like that wouldnt be an option.

I work for 1 officer and have been her assistant the whole 6 years. Because of this horrible market, the company just laid off 6 employees - leaving 3 assistants (luckily I was kept) I was left because of my experience and knowledge and loyalty to this company.
Well, yesterday, the county manager (the one that does the layoffs - my boss' boss) approached me and told me to write down a name and number. He told me he wanted me to go interview with his best friend whom works with "Wall Street." He said he wouldn't and didn't give any other employee this info and knows with the market the way it is, that anything could happen but he wants me to continue on making good money and having a good job because of my "excellent work ethic." He said if I didn't like the job, fine. I still had one here - but he wants me to go interview and talk with him afterwards.

My question is -should I feel complimented, or is this his way of getting rid of me?? He asked me not to speak with my boss..

Long story short of it, two years ago the company I worked for had a meeting about emails. We were told that the occasional email to family and friends were fine. Well over a 2 1/2 year period I had a total of 5 out going emails but someone that I had asked about what mystery shopping was sent me about 25 emails in one day. (I did inform her to stop sending me emails). Then in May of this year it was found that I had 2 large cyst and was off work for a little over a week. I turned in all my dr statements and my fmla papers, but the day I returned to work and I worked my full shift they fired me for not following company policy requiring emails. I have only applied to companies I know I have experience in but I'm starting to think that being fired for no following company policy. Any suggesting as to how to handle interview question about why you were fired from your last job. (no actions was taken with others emailing in that department)

Singles are often given more hours, asked to travel, not given breaks during the summer, and paid less than their married counterparts. They also take advantage of fewer benefits--no need for childcare or family health.

I remember a Dilbert cartoon where one of the characters pretends to be married in order to get the benefits of a married person. Is this possible? If a person claims to be married on a job application, and says their spouse does not need benefits (such as healthcare), and puts fake pictures on their desk, what are the chances they could get away with it?

Lets say i intesely start looking for a job in electrical/computer engineering field starting today , how long do to you think before i find an entry level job ? anywhere , new york , connecticut or new jersey . doesn't matter , as long as i get a job

i graduated last december with 3.24 gpa. since it was against my wishes , i had to take my time , now i realize there is nothing i can do , but to take use of this degree and make some money , and pay for my own therapy , because i feel i will need one soon enough .. ( kinda serious )

i was working in a call center but i got canned 3 days ago , cuz i took some sick leaves ...

I graduated with electrical and comp engineering degree last december , as per my parents wishes , and since i hated it , i didn't go looking for any job in that field , instead i was working in a call center in newyork , till 3 days ago when they told me i took too many sick leaves .

Now i am ready , think
I wanna make more money ,

but better things ,
i wanna be independent from my parents .
( i think the reason why i never got a job in this field was because of the constant nagging , even when they knew this isn't what i really wanted to do ) .

thing is i dn't have any experiences , but can i Substitute the fact that i dn't have any " engineering " internships experiences with the fact that i have done some " Projects " and " Assignments " in School ? does that make any sense?

I'm currently 22 years old with a marine technology diploma and going to work in a marine company for 3 years doing structural steel work to serve a bond. I thought of going for studies at age 25 (after finishing my bond) in a local university such as NUS and NTU ( from Singapore) to obtain a degree in mechanical engineering, as I have more interest in that field. But once i graduate from the university at age 28, will my age and experience affect in me finding of mechanical engineering jobs? I have only 3 years experience in structural steel works which is more of like civil engineering work and I'm only starting out as a mechanical engineer at age 28, with really no mechanical work experience. Pls advice.

i have paid my bills, like what you're supposed to do when you get a job,the thing is,is that except for how long I have worked at this job,i don't feel like I really have accomplished very much, except for making a few good freinds.I would like to feel better about myself working at my job,but I kinda stuck at work, and I would like to get another job,and go back to school, but I don't have a real clear path to what I would like to do,(except for working with computers).I want to take chances, like getting another job,but I don't have alot of confidence in myself in doing something else.Any suggestions on how to change the way I feel about myself?

I have a job that is . . . decent. I've been there for 7 1/2 years. Recently, I decided to change to a totally different field, one that will be far more lucrative, far more fun, and far more fulfilling. However, I cannot switch for some time. Just knowing that the other job is waiting is making me REALLY dislike my previously tolerable job, at which I do a good job and people like me. I may be becoming a bit of a jerk at my current job -- I don't think so, but I feel "jerky" every so often. Should I find a "transition" job between the two, or just learn patience and suck it up? BUT I need insurance, and the transition job may not offer that (but the other two have great benefits). Any real help would be appreciated. Thanks all!

I am looking for a career change and I am very interested in two careers, but I don't know which one would be better. I can't decide between Sonography or MLT. If I chose Sonography, I would have to take one year of general courses then apply for a very competitive 2 year program to earn a B.S. degree. But I have the prereq's for the MLT program already and it is only one year long. I am very interested in the medical field but can't decide if imaging or lab is best. Any opinions?

BTW, money doesn't mean much, I just want a job that I enjoy going to every day.

I remember once I was applying for a job in a warehouse, and they hand me this 15 page math test to fill out, along with a very lengthy application.

I proceeded to rip up the math test and throw it in the air before I walked out.

I told them that I'm not in grade school, so I'm not filling out their stupid little test test.

I'm very good at math btw, so that wasn't the issue.
I just refuse to jump through the flaming hoop.

What would you have done?
