I have a job that is . . . decent. I've been there for 7 1/2 years. Recently, I decided to change to a totally different field, one that will be far more lucrative, far more fun, and far more fulfilling. However, I cannot switch for some time. Just knowing that the other job is waiting is making me REALLY dislike my previously tolerable job, at which I do a good job and people like me. I may be becoming a bit of a jerk at my current job -- I don't think so, but I feel "jerky" every so often. Should I find a "transition" job between the two, or just learn patience and suck it up? BUT I need insurance, and the transition job may not offer that (but the other two have great benefits). Any real help would be appreciated. Thanks all!

you know whats best for you. I dont know why cant you switch to the new job right now. But neways i thinks you should stick to this current job. Think this way, its just few months or years u will have to do this after that neways u will have what u wanted and waited for.. so why not try to do yr best @ the current job? This is just a question of self control. You can do it..u were doing it before also..so ..be patient..u will get through this ..and thanks for your answer on me meeting decent guys... lol :-)

First of all I can kind of relate with you in that I am making the transition from a job I had through college to soon quitting to go into my degree field.

I would honestly try to stay away from "transition jobs" in that when you go to apply in the new field whatever that may be, quitting a 7.5 year for say, hypothetically 6 months then applying for a new job in your new field may not do so well. It may put the idea in the back of a potential employer's head that you will only be there for a very short time.

In terms of dealing with your current job, just do the best you can. It's hard I know when you really want to get out of there. Work hard, keep the attitude at the door and you will get through all of this.

Good luck.

Stick with it, and continue to do a very good job. You may need this for a reference some time down the road. Anyway, just knowing you have a better job waiting for you should make you happy, not "jerky". When you start to feel at all down, just think how much you will like your new job, and that should really make your days a lot better.

I would just hang in there until the other position opens up. If you go to another job, there will be a waiting period for the insurance. since you said that your current job is tolerable, then stay with it. Just be lucky that you have a job, even if it isn't what you want. good luck.
