I've been working at a restaurant for 2 1/2 months now; I am the HR Manager, Office Manager, Secretary, and Cashier. My title however is only Secretary but my responsibilities are all of the above. My boss keeps adding things to my list of responsibilities and he never changes my title or raises my pay. When anything wrong happens he calls me at home or anywhere and basically tells me it's my fault. Recently I have asked for a raise due to my husband having to quit his job to go to college, my boss basically said "I've been working here for only 2 months, I can find someone to do your job for 2 dollars less an hour than what I am paying you." What should I do, should I get another job or just stay at this one?

Get another job. If you can really do everything you say, you should be able to get another job with a raise.

Clearly, he is taking advantage of you. What I would suggest is you start looking for a new job and leave this job ONCE YOU HAVE A NEW JOB.

Although it is not pleasant and quite possibly even against the labor law, it still pays you wage that you need.

It is very true, it is too early to ask for a raise in 2 months. Your husband losing a job is not an issue for your boss and has nothing to do with your job either. At most jobs, 3 months is considered a probational period.

By the way, when you leave your job, DO NOT vent your frustrations. There is nothing good comes from it. Just be very formal and do it in writing. Thank him for the opportunity and say you are leaving for personal reasons. You'll be surprised how people come back in to your life in the future.

If your title and pay is for a secretary then that is all you should be doing. You are being taken advantage of and you are letting it happen. In my opinion, I think you should start looking for another job. It will only get worse and from what you are saying, your boss is inconsiderate and cheap. If you really want to stay there, try giving him a two week notice and see if he'll change his mind about that raise. But honestly, it sounds like you would be miserable. Good luck!

Look for another job. You are being taken advantage of. But you now have a range of skills you can use in a job search! Don't leave till you've found another job though.

Start looking and when you find another job, move on.
Be prepared to be fired if they find out you are looking.
