I am looking for a career change and I am very interested in two careers, but I don't know which one would be better. I can't decide between Sonography or MLT. If I chose Sonography, I would have to take one year of general courses then apply for a very competitive 2 year program to earn a B.S. degree. But I have the prereq's for the MLT program already and it is only one year long. I am very interested in the medical field but can't decide if imaging or lab is best. Any opinions?

BTW, money doesn't mean much, I just want a job that I enjoy going to every day.

An MLT is a Medical Lab Technician. You draw blood and perform various tests in the lab.

It sometimes offends me that other med fields don't know what their lab does. Lab science all the way. There is more mystery to clinical science than there is radiology. The pay isn't too bad. It really depends on where you live. I'm happy.

I would definitely not want to draw blood all day. I also thought ultrasound was boring when I went through that rotation in school, but it's better than being a lab tech, in my opinion. Even though money isn't that important, I believe sonography makes a lot more than a lab tech.
