I know this has been asked a million times. But MY question is HOW do I get a summer job? I'm totally confused. I already have a resume because I made one a couple years ago (i updated it recently). Do I go in person and give companies my resume? Do I look in the Help Wanted section of newspapers? Or do I just go into stores/restaraunts and ask if they'd like a teenager? Or do I apply online??? I really am totally confused!

I want to start working in early July. Do you think that's too late?

I'm already aware of the child labor laws and stuff in my state. My only question is *how* to find and acquire a job. Someone please answer this for me.

Thanks! :)

If an offer letter is signed (employee & employer) and then one of these change their mind, what are the legal repercussions if any?

On online applications there often is just a drop down menu and not the option to enter negotiable or open as far a salary requirements. I NEVER know how to answer for the very reasons other people have mentioned.

Hi I'm a restaurant manager and my crew is mainly high school students and some LEGAL immigrants.I always thank them for specific things they do well, try to help them when they are buried in work and try to listen and address any concerns they have. But unfortunately, I do not handle the schedule and have no control over how many workers I can have on a shift and it gets very hectic at times. So my crew is often overworked. I also have a fantastic crew that gives their best every day, and most of them do an awesome job.

Do you have some ideas that I can use to make my crew feel appreciated and to make the place a fun place to work? Our work is busy, so I can do very little to control the volume of business.

As a new manager, I want my crew to realize just how important they are to making our business a success and also because they are great people to work with.

So how can I show them just how much I appreciate them.

(I can't give them raises every time they do a good job

You fill an application online verses going to the place an filling out the application.
Do they actually read the application and go over it when you send the application over the internet? Is it better for you to just go to the place fill the application out and give it to them?
The reason I ask his my husband and I filled some applications online instead of going to the place.
I see it easier that way if it's possible especcially with gas prices as high as the are right now. Why spend $30 on gas to find a job when you can do it online then if they like you they can call you and set up a interview, at least that way you don't spend money that you may not have since you are looking for a job.

Over 80% of workers don't like their jobs but do it in order to have income! Imagine if you can a society where instead of you being enslaved by business & government the roles get reversed & business and government are made to provide quality service & goods or you fire them!

I know what I want to say in the letter, but I am having difficulty finding a good introduction sentence. Should I be bold or reserved in my introduction statement? I am sending my resume to a company that offers an admintrator in training program (healthcare).

I graduate this June with a BA in Women's Studies and minor in Psychology. I'm going to grad school in late Sept but I wanted to work in social services or non-profit for the summer. I live in Dayton, but I'm willing to travel as far south as cincy and as far north as columbus. Any ideas on where to look or who's hiring. I've tried monster and idealist.org and stuff like that but nothing really.

I am looking for a summer job and have applied to retail stores such as Barnes and Noble. Usually I try to include a cover letter because somewhere I read that this was the proper etiquette. A friend told me this was a bad idea because most stores "wouldn't know what to do with it". I.e. they wouldn't expect for an applicant to make that much of an effort. Is he right? Should I just submit applications and forget the letter? I really want to make a good impression.

This is a follow up to my previous question:

How do i handle this client?

Basically:

1. Fitted a full head of hair extensions

2. Client started complaining about the quality of the hair 10 days later.

3. After speaking to my supplier, they requested the hair to be analysed by them to establish where the fault lies.

4. The client seemed very reluctant to have it analysed, but 3 weeks later sent the hair to my supplier. (All along she was demanding a full refund/replacement and threatening court action)

5. The supplier analysed the hair, and come to the conclusion that after 5 weeks of wear, the hair was in VERY good condition and that there was no problem whatsoever with it. They then sent me a sample of the analysed hair, which i agree is soft to the touch, silky and perfectly fit for wear.

6. The supplier after speaking to my client (to my surprise!) then informed me that they are going to send the client a new batch of hair as a GESTURE OF GOODWILL

My boss and I are friends outside of work, and we both dislike liars.
I have been with this company for 5yrs now and worked with him for 3yrs. Always got along with all of co-workers, and bosses and always go into work on time, never call out, and will be called in on a mins. notice.
First off, being we communicate very well and I can talk to him, I found out that he called me a liar to some other employees. I confronted him about it and he turned around and said that I stretched the truth and that he didn't say that at all that I was a liar. Which on this specific happening, I did NOT lie or stretch the truth.
He is very hot headed, doesn't care about anybody's feelings, and his out look is, "so what if you quit, I can replace you and the store will go on."
Any advice? Should I just give him the cold shoulder?
By the way, my husband has always done favors for him, helping him out and my husband is furious about this.
Oh yes, I am in the process of looking for a new job.
