What should I give to employers when they ask for a writing sample?

I'm applying for a job and as part of the application you should include a writing sample.

It's for an administrative job. I have to submit a writing sample with my application.

For an administrative job, you can provide a sample business letter or memorandum. They want to see how well you write more than WHAT you write, so be clear, make sure there are no typos, and that your grammar is perfect.

What type of job is it? If you will be doing tech writing, send a tech sample, the same for a fiction or a creative writing position.
