Should your co-workers mind their own business if you do things you arent suppose to but everyone does it anyway? Like go on the internet, take an extra long break once in a while, or talk to another co-worker at their desk for a long period of time? Of course you still get all your work done and you do not do it every day, but when it gets slow and you are bored you just have to do something! Do your co-workers tell on you?

I am currently job searching and most of the time the human resources tell me that it is the job seekers job to research the company. Your chances are eliminated if you don't know what the company stands for or don't know anything about the company. However, most of the time I see anonymous postings on here in which they don't mention the company name. So, is it a good way to find job leads?

I currently have an employee that recently became a divorced mother, with 3 children. Ages 12, 11, and 1 years old. The employee has to miss alot of work because the 1 year old is sick and in daycare. Daycare will not keep sick babies. She also has to miss work at times to deal with 11 year old son and his behavior issues at school. The father is not around to help out when she has to miss work to tend to kids. All of her family and friends work also. She has been with company for 5 years, and average employee. She has a problem with being punctual for work.
I understand that she has to tend to her children when they are sick, etc. She misses on average about 8 days of work a month.
I understand that these are often circumstances beyond her control, but this is an ongoing situation for the last 2 years.
Any suggestions?

I do not understand this. How do you think our great world leaders came to be? How do you think doctors and lawyers got to where they are now? Not to mention our world's technicians, plumbers, businessmen and so many other jobs that are out there. The work of a teacher taught these incredible people in order to prepare them for their futures.

Now, without these teachers, there would not be all of those people out there. Teachers are the ones that teach the rest of the world, and yet they are paid such a low salary and for many, they are not treated with respect. I do not see how this is fair. Some say, "Teachers do not do anything other than boss around a classroom full of children and assign homework. That is not a hard job." But it is so much more than that. They are contributing to the FUTURE of a child. Where would the world be without our teachers? It is almost shameful!

Does anyone agree with me that teachers are not treated with the respect and paid the $$ they deserve?

I am graduating college with a degree in business soon. Lately though I've been thinking I'd really enjoy working as a newscaster/meteorologist for a local news station. Does anyone know how to break into this field? Does it require a degree in communications, etc? I do not have time for an internship, since I'm about to graduate. I live in Philadelphia but am willing to relocate for work. Any input would be appreciated!

So I'm graduating college soon, with a major in geology. My originial plan was to become a doctor, but at some point when I was having too much fun as freshman, I decided not to. Since my plan to go to grad school has been delayed, I now have to find a job instead. This has forced me to the nasty realization that although I love geology, the jobs available sound incredibly unsatisfying. This has made me start to think about becoming a doctor again. I would love to be able to make a positive impact on peoples' lives, and to be more independent (environmental geologists only work where too many people have messed up too few resources). It would likely mean going back to school, which I don't mind, though at 3.2, my GPA is so low I may have to retake some classes to get into med school. Should I do this, or continue considering it, even though I would be well into my 30s by the time I was finished? Would it be worth it?

That is indeed a problem, Is it the worst problem you can have,
I work as a programmer in a major bank. I used to go in every week, work my 40 hours (more like 50, but hey) and get paid a nice salary. It was a nice job in a good company, my boss was a good guy, my co-workers were neat people and the work was OK.
But as time passed, I felt like something was missing. Work was comfortable and secure, but I felt that there were sides of me that I never really got to use. I wanted to do work I could really feel proud of. I wanted to make more of a difference. And mostly, I was never really excited about work.
So I asked myself what it would take to improve things.
Leave your job or stay which can make you sick or even kill you. I went from feeling OK about my job to feeling really bad about it,,,
if there is much pressure on you to change. when your job isn’t bad for you. It’s certainly much..
the thing's what's the effects on you if you let it go!!
