I am currently job searching and most of the time the human resources tell me that it is the job seekers job to research the company. Your chances are eliminated if you don't know what the company stands for or don't know anything about the company. However, most of the time I see anonymous postings on here in which they don't mention the company name. So, is it a good way to find job leads?

I've hired folks off of Craigslist, but not too many. It's not a recruiting tool I regularly turn to like monster or a similar public job job site.

Craigslist is one avenue of a multi-pronged job search strategy which should include online sites, using a recruiter or agency, networking with other professionals in similar fields, etc.

It is a good source in certain markets (like CA)

You are right, you can't do much when a company is posted "anonymously" but that's true even on other sites.

You need to know more about the company when you are further in the process - if someone posts an opening on Craigslist anonymously, they know not to expect specialized responses from job seekers.
