I am a senior level (or team lead) member of the Information Technology dept. at my company. I have been there just 8 months, and I currently have no direct-reports. My boss is another "senior" level person. My company is doing some restructuring and just today came to me offering a "promotion." I would pretty much keep my current responsibilities, but in addition, I would have three-direct reports, and I would now report directly to the Director of I.T. The company stated that I would also be given an increased salary, T.B.D. At this point, I am researching and benchmarking to understand how much of a raise I should expect. I know there are many variables to this answer, but assuming most of my responsibilities stay the same as before, but in addition I would manage/supervise three other I.T. staff members, should I expect increased compensation? If so, how much (percentage-wise).

You've been working for a company for a number of months. A new receptionist is hired who is unfriendly. You're friendly and polite. Over a period of months, you've determined that the receptionist hates the sight of you through a series of interactions ranging from biting your head off to completely ignoring you. Until one day, the receptionist finally tells you after asking how they are doing in a coarse tone to not talk to them for no reason. What do you do?

A. Nothing
B. Write a formal letter of complaint and submit it to management
C. Continue to be friendly and disregard the hateful response to your "How are you doing today." While determining to embark on a passive-aggressive tact of killing with kindness.
D. None of the above(Explain)

I got a job through a temp agency at a very prominent and exclusive university. I started two days ago and I haven't really been given any assignments. It is an admin. job so I have sent a few faxes and made copies, but that is about it. I was given an assignment which I completed, but when emailed my supervisor to get more input and asked to do some additional steps, she never responded. Everyone is really nice and helpful, but I am not doing anything really. The department I am in is the field I want to be in, and having this on my resume would be a total asset. Should I ask my co-workers if they have anything they need help with? check with them and see what her management style is? I dont want to seem high maintenance or whiny. suggestions?

I have been at my current job for a little over 2 years and in that time I completed my college deg. There are less than 10 employees in the whole company and we are all stretched to our capacity and the manager does not communicate and wont hire anyone else. Ever since I have been with the company I have not moved anywhere. I was told recently it is because I miss so much work. The first year I missed so much time was because of my graduation (which I used my vacation time) and a little bit of unpaid time. Now it has been because I have been going on interviews and I cant let him know far enough in advance when Im going to be off. I have a feeling my boss wants me to go anyway. Im overpaid for what I do there and he dosent like it. (He told me that.) Someone else had hired me in.

Im starting to have second callbacks in the same week and have just about ran out of reasons to leave on short notice. Im really unhappy in my current job and cant afford to loose it. Any suggestions?

I am 36 year old business consultant in a good paying job (6 figure salary). I hate what I do for a living and am tired of the grind of office life. I am looking to make a career change, but don’t begin to know where to start.

Any suggestions on how to approach a major career change and am I likely to be any happier doing it?

I work in the Deli at a grocery store and our deli manager is a woman. For the last couple of days I have been having dreams about her. I don't remember the dreams when I wake up, but I know she's always in them and it's kinda creeping me out. Anyone have any suggestions as to what this means?

there is a possibility that i may be offered a higher position at work, i work in human resources right now but there is a lady retiring soon in our department, she is in employee retirement systems. i see the work she gets and it makes me nervous. she wasnt good on keeping up with her projects and she always complained about not being able to complete her work on time and she also has other health problems. so ive gotten the impression from how she acts that its just too much work and her boss isnt fair with her. i keep thinking of the negative aspects of the job and its clouding my judgement. what should i do? my co-worker said if this is a possibility, then i should take it to advance myself and that she couldve been making the job a little harder than it was. what should i do? i dont want to be stuck as an front desk clerk, i know my colleagues want me to advance and finish my BA, which by the wat i only have 6 credits to go. maybe i am just scared of advancement?

I have tried the selling Avon, Pampered Chef, etc. but I end up putting out more money than I bring in. I am a stay at home mom of two preschoolers and part-time student, and would just like something to bring in a little extra money.

I'm 20 years old.. I've lost purpose with my life. I've worked @ a bank in South Carolina for the past 4 years. I work here now but I feel as if I'm only passing the time and I don't make good enough money to do other things like go back to school. I had scholarships to college and partied too much and dropped out. Go figure. I'm a really smart guy who made a bunch of terrible life decisions so I think the military structure would help me get back on track. I never took JROTC in high school and the only further education I have is an A+ certification (computer repair). Which branch of military would be right for me? I'm not a lazy guy and i'm in good shape. Also what kind of service work could I do that would incorporate my brians as well as a lil brawn, I'd want to do more than just "Grunt" work.

Sorry I understand this is a very broad question and it would probably be better for me to go see a recruiter, but b4 all the hassle I want personal opinions from those who serve/served.
