I am a senior level (or team lead) member of the Information Technology dept. at my company. I have been there just 8 months, and I currently have no direct-reports. My boss is another "senior" level person. My company is doing some restructuring and just today came to me offering a "promotion." I would pretty much keep my current responsibilities, but in addition, I would have three-direct reports, and I would now report directly to the Director of I.T. The company stated that I would also be given an increased salary, T.B.D. At this point, I am researching and benchmarking to understand how much of a raise I should expect. I know there are many variables to this answer, but assuming most of my responsibilities stay the same as before, but in addition I would manage/supervise three other I.T. staff members, should I expect increased compensation? If so, how much (percentage-wise).

I would advise doing some quick research at salary.com for specifics to your industry. There are a ton of variables also including your company's compensation philosophy, industry, and the salary range that's set up for your position etc.

With just a brief overview of your situation I'd tend on the low end since you are just getting reports and there is no significant addition to your responsibilities.

Being in IT and having worked in many different environments myself I'd have to say that there's no set compensation that you can expect. I've seen people gain new titles and added responsibilities with no increase in pay and other people who got hefty raises without anything about their job changing. If you're going to be managing in your new role and you weren't before then you can expect a decent raise. What you get really depends on the company though.
