I got a job through a temp agency at a very prominent and exclusive university. I started two days ago and I haven't really been given any assignments. It is an admin. job so I have sent a few faxes and made copies, but that is about it. I was given an assignment which I completed, but when emailed my supervisor to get more input and asked to do some additional steps, she never responded. Everyone is really nice and helpful, but I am not doing anything really. The department I am in is the field I want to be in, and having this on my resume would be a total asset. Should I ask my co-workers if they have anything they need help with? check with them and see what her management style is? I dont want to seem high maintenance or whiny. suggestions?

Go to your supervisor and let them know that you would like some extra projects. More than likely they don't realize that you have more time on your hand than they realized. I did this at my job I have now, and i'm now waiting on a confirmation of a promotion because they were impressed with all the extra projects that I took on. Good luck!!

Its been only 2 days, give yourself time. If you got this job at a temp agency, that means that this job is temp to hire right? Well you haven't gotten the job, but you are right, this will look good on your resume. Just wait. You could ask your coworkers if they need any help, but if they say no, just leave it alone, your boss should be the one to be giving you responsibilities. Your new give it time..
