I have been at my current job for a little over 2 years and in that time I completed my college deg. There are less than 10 employees in the whole company and we are all stretched to our capacity and the manager does not communicate and wont hire anyone else. Ever since I have been with the company I have not moved anywhere. I was told recently it is because I miss so much work. The first year I missed so much time was because of my graduation (which I used my vacation time) and a little bit of unpaid time. Now it has been because I have been going on interviews and I cant let him know far enough in advance when Im going to be off. I have a feeling my boss wants me to go anyway. Im overpaid for what I do there and he dosent like it. (He told me that.) Someone else had hired me in.

Im starting to have second callbacks in the same week and have just about ran out of reasons to leave on short notice. Im really unhappy in my current job and cant afford to loose it. Any suggestions?

You're worrying too much. You problem is really short term. You admit you'r eleaving the job so what does it matter if you call in sick one or two more times? You're time at your current job is just about to end. Plus, you said your boss told you he's not pleased with your position/wage there anyway. So why do you care what he thinks?

If I were you and a company wanted to interview me, I'd try to arrange a time so that it doesn't impact my current job. But, failing that, I wouldn't get worried if I had to leave early or arrive late one day because of it. I'd make up an excuse that I had another doctor's appointment or something like that. The boss doesn't like me and the feeling is mutual. Most of all, I'm on borrowed time there so what does it matter? Don't sweat it.

If the companies that are interested in hiring you are ethical, they will understand that you want to do the right thing and be honest and fair with your current employer. As has been suggested, ask for early or late interviews. If this isn't possible, ask for a date that will give you a bit more time to arrange for the time off. Try to schedule the second interviews for the same day if possible. If none of this works, take your chances and call out sick. Good luck.

Ask your call backs if the person you need to interview with works odd hours. Many companies will accomodate a 5:30 pm interview or a 7 am interview. They may also accomodate a lunch interview at a nice halfway point. I always do, I never want someone to fill like they have to give themselves up.

I think you are on the verge of getting your next job. Assuming you cannot call in sick or anything else, say a very close friend died and you need to take a few days off. Maybe if he doesn't like it, you might get laid off and get unemployment.
