there is a possibility that i may be offered a higher position at work, i work in human resources right now but there is a lady retiring soon in our department, she is in employee retirement systems. i see the work she gets and it makes me nervous. she wasnt good on keeping up with her projects and she always complained about not being able to complete her work on time and she also has other health problems. so ive gotten the impression from how she acts that its just too much work and her boss isnt fair with her. i keep thinking of the negative aspects of the job and its clouding my judgement. what should i do? my co-worker said if this is a possibility, then i should take it to advance myself and that she couldve been making the job a little harder than it was. what should i do? i dont want to be stuck as an front desk clerk, i know my colleagues want me to advance and finish my BA, which by the wat i only have 6 credits to go. maybe i am just scared of advancement?

You may be able to keep up better than she did. Maybe she hit burn out and like you said, there are other issues.

Ask about all (and I mean ALL) the job responsibilities from her and from the colleagues you have. If it sounds like a) you could do it and b) that you'd like it, then go for it.

Just because she couldn't handle the job and do it well doesn't mean that you can't. Think positively. This is a big step forward.
