I was terminated from my emploer this past summer due to a plant closure. I was told by HR that my pension plan exceeded $5000 (its valued at $7200), thus, I could not do a lump sum cash out upon termination. I now have to wait until I am 65 to receive $199.85 a month, and I am 36 years old now. This money will not "grow" I could put this money to better use by investing it. This pension was not an employee contribution plan. HR tells me I have no recourse or options in this matter. Is this true? Is there anything at all I can do to get this money?

I work as a financial planner, and I was really hoping to quit tomorrow. I've only been here for 6 months, and it's just not what I'm looking for. I was talking with some people who felt that I really should give a 2 weeks notice. It doesn't seem like they would want me here for 2 more weeks because I'm not going to be prospecting for new clients if I'm leaving. Any suggestions?

I work late nights in a call center. I noticed an envelope sitting out of place on my bosses desk which had been there for the past few days. After about the 3rd day of seeing it sticking out, I picked it up and pulled out the piece of paper, it read "Why are you rummaging around my office, you should know you are under survelience. Leave your badge on my desk and while you're on your way out the door, ask yourself, Why would you be reading confidential documents in my office when I'm not there?" I looked up from the letter and saw a web cam staring me in the face. One week later, I was fired for rummaging on my bosses desk. Is it legal to fire someone for that? Should I sue my former employer?

Do I really need to stay working with the company who doesn't give moral value to his employee? Just making policy in favor only for the management? I'm afraid of being unemployed but I'm not comfortable anymore working with my boss.

i have been with my employer for 2years (council) i got told that 6months into the job i would be starting my svq2, which never happened, now i have been told that new memebers of staff that have been there not even a year yet are starting theres next year!
I told my senior who is also my supervisor about that i was not happy with this, she said that there was other people that aren't happy with situ too.
She is not really giving a damn as she is retiring in march, the thing is i am much more entilted to this as i have been there longer. I do not think its very fair how they are doing this.
I need my svq2 as i want to move on to do mental health nursing at college and this would help me get in, to course, but instead i have to do an access course for a year.
Any advice would be great. Thanxs very much

I'm half american, half swedish. I have lived in both countries but decided to settle in the States. I am completely fluent in all scandinavian languages as well as english. I'd really like to find a job where I can use this asset. I am a trained nurses assistant but have no college degree that can be transfered to the American school system so I will have to start over with college. What careers can I pursue?

fisrt off i worki n a yearly rota, which means i know which shifts i work throughout the year.
My work have rotas in houses that i work to let u know who u are working with.
When looking at rota it says that im off, which i know isn't true as im supposed to be a backshift, but they had all the shifts covered.
But me being me opened my mouth and said to one of the seniors that were on duty yesterday, that i think i am supposed to be working but not really sure as, ive lost my rota, she said that she would find out today for me and give me a call if i am.
According to 1471 when phoning it said that they called at 8.27am, but did not leave a msg.
Its now 12.37pm in afternoon and they have still not phoned.
So im not phoning them as if they wanted me to work then they should of had me on rota in the first place.
Whats ure views?? Bearing in mind that they have mucked me about like this loads of times and i have had to fight for my shifts as they kept giving that one as overtime to staff

I haven't worked in 10 years, due to a back injury. I settled against my atty's advice and rec'd a small settlement. I divorced after 32 years(ex-husband had an affair and fathered a child). Supported my son for the last 6 years with no child support. I have run out of money..no job(no college degree, computer savvy or solid work history). I don't want to end up homeless like others who are(dirty and wearing rags) wondering around with backpacks or shopping carts. I am completely exhausted from getting the run-around from agencies for help(training and finding a place to live). I come from a middle class family and feel so humilated. I want to volunteer(outside the US) and possibly live the rest of my life not having to worry where I'm going to find a job, etc. but find it costs $$$ for the paperwork. A majority of them want money in advance just to process your paperwork. I need some direction. The only jobs that are out there are paying $6.50, and would have to work 3 jobs.

In the Emergency Dept. with get a lot of mentally ill and suicidal patients that we are trained to handle. One of these patients got out of hand and because this person had no training in backing mf he just stood and watched while i wrestled with this patient longer then i had two resulting in me getting bit and a broken bone in my left hand. Also two other nurses received injuries as well. Other then workmans comp arent they negligent and should i or can i file a law suite?
