In the Emergency Dept. with get a lot of mentally ill and suicidal patients that we are trained to handle. One of these patients got out of hand and because this person had no training in backing mf he just stood and watched while i wrestled with this patient longer then i had two resulting in me getting bit and a broken bone in my left hand. Also two other nurses received injuries as well. Other then workmans comp arent they negligent and should i or can i file a law suite?

I don't think you could sue. Because the hospital provided security they protect themselves from law suits. Weather they have been trained properly or not.

Suing is a guide line to better behavior in many instances especially for institutions such as hospitals where your very life depends on efficiency. Hospitals are sued because of this very thing along with charging patients l5.00 for Kleenex many well deserve it. Do sue them, but look for another career because you won't be accepted in your present one after you collect. You will be labled as "incompetent in your given field of employment". Sue for enough to go for a better profession.

Of course you can sue, America is the land of the lawsuit.
Keeping your job is another ball game, however; they will be waiting for you to make a mistake, so as to fire you for incompetance. They will give you a horrible work schedule to make you quit. And so on.

This is something you should raise with a Union, you don't have to be a member to get advice although it would help
