i have been with my employer for 2years (council) i got told that 6months into the job i would be starting my svq2, which never happened, now i have been told that new memebers of staff that have been there not even a year yet are starting theres next year!
I told my senior who is also my supervisor about that i was not happy with this, she said that there was other people that aren't happy with situ too.
She is not really giving a damn as she is retiring in march, the thing is i am much more entilted to this as i have been there longer. I do not think its very fair how they are doing this.
I need my svq2 as i want to move on to do mental health nursing at college and this would help me get in, to course, but instead i have to do an access course for a year.
Any advice would be great. Thanxs very much

if it was mentioned in your Job Descritption that you would be taking an svq2, then they cant do this to you. Contact your HR/Personnel department and talk to someone there. If your manager isnt doing anything about it you make the moves to make sure that you get on to do this course. Is there anyone that your manager reports to? speak to him/her but def go to hr and find out whats going on because you have the right to be on the course esp if you were told that you would be.

Unfair treatment. Unless there is a material difference between yourself and the others being offered the course early (i.e. they have the right qualifications to enter whilst you would need further qualifications) then they must offer you the same as them.

Talk to your union as I am sure they would be interested in it.

look at your terms and conditions if you have it in writing you have a case to go higher make sure it is not a draft letter and just wave bye bye to your tetiring boss and find who will be replacing her as you have been there 2 years you have to ask them before the new people get settled in a job which should be offered to you on service merit

Did you have this in writing? If so then file a complaint with hr and file a complaint with the department of labor.

See your head of service about, and talk to your HR department as well.
