I work in a medical office and the other day one of our doctors appearently left a message on a machine with health information. It was the wrong number in the computer one that was the patients family member they used to live with. My question here is I as the receptionist forgot to verify the phone number I guess when they registered. It was an honest mistake on my part I get very busy. The employer upset with ME. Can I lose my job over this or is it the doctor who is responsible?

I am currently in college right now but I also work about 25 hrs a week at a tax firm. I've worked there for about 1 1/2 yrs and love working there, I'm studying accounting and it was my first accounting related job so my boss has become more like a mentor to me. However, because of a family situation, I am moving to Ohio for a semester which will mean I will either have to resign or have to ask for an extended leave of absence from my job (I may be back in summer of 07). Obviously written would be easier because I don't want to leave and it will be very hard telling my boss that but which is the more polite thing to do, write a letter to my boss or sit down and talk with him and explain everything?

TIA

I work for a company.....i work from 5-5 some and probably most days. The regular time would be 7-3. If I couldnt work overtime, could i be fired from the job? Can they really do that?...That wouldnt really be fair or right. Could this company be in trouble for firing a worker becasue he or she couldnt work overtime? But the problem would be that this State is "At Will". How could you prove that they had fired you becasue you couldnt work overtime? I read the company's employee orientation packet and stuff. And it didnt say that overtime is Mandatory. I thought Overtime was Optional

I've been working at Taco Bell on the south side of Indianapolis (just opened) for almost a month, working days, which was what I was told I would be doing, and just when I was starting to like it, a manager told me I had to change my hours. If I wasn't riding the bus I would but I have no way of getting there and I don't know anyone I can get a ride from. But here's the problem: the manager told me that if I can't get a way to and from work then I can't get schuduled in. I think it's unfair they're denying me hours. Is there anything I can do?

The manager says to the assistant "they are only students,knock £5 off the price
the assistant puts £2 in his pocket and tells the students that there is a reduction of £3
So the students pay £9 each and the assistant pockets £2
Total= £29
What happened to the other pound

1st job has poor work/life balance reputation (corp. retail) but new ownrshp's strategy is to be better on valuing their people's time. They've made some changes for me to be in a good position, but moral is low and no guarntee this top mngmt will value our time. Big bonus opportnty, more decision making here and in the title of responsibilty I want. 2nd job has modrn approach on work/life balance (unique retail format (web/tv)) but would start out in a position that would be very time intensive on family time and not my passion, but "could" lead to my desired position. No guarntee that I would get in this position, but if I did (which is why I am interested in it) long term is better on family/life balance. Less bonus and in a fast growing phase. Gross salaries are pretty close. To make it more difficult..I accpted 1st job offer and have start date coming up & 2nd offer I have been persuing for 6 months & finally just got offer & they matched my countr offer. WHAT TO DO????

i saw an advert in a local paper for xmas temps to work in an incoming call center.
i gave the number a ring and it was an agency.

last time i worked for an agency was about 4 years ago and it was factory work. they kept laying me off after a few days and then ringing me up the week after for more work.

will this happen again if i go for a different type of job i.e telesales?
i live on my own now so would it be worth it?
do any of you do this type of work thru an agency?
