Use the most formal of the letter formats which is the block form. This consists of no indentations at the begin of the paragraphs. A sample would be:
Date
Name of person letter is to be addressed to
Address 1st Line
City, State, and Zip Code
Dear (Name of Person - use Mr. or Ms.)
I hereby tender my resignation of my job as a Personnel Manager at the ABC Company as of December 17, 2006, due to personal reasons.
I have allowed for the standard two weeks of notice.
Please begin all necessary paperwork for processing the termination of my position with your firm.
I have enjoyed my time with your company and regret having to turn in my resignation.
Sincerely,
YOUR NAME HERE
Note: If you HAVE not enjoyed your time with the firm, then simply leave out that paragraph.
Good luck to you!
