Study Linux, as well as the Cisco IOS (CCNA). There are jobs with Microsoft Server, but the handwriting is on the wall -- Linux is the future.

Am am an American, and my first job was working doing telephone support. Now all of the phone jobs are in India, and I would highly recommend that you practice your American accent and get a job with one of those companies. When you work on the phone then you get to solve lots of problems all day long, and you are forced to learn your craft.

If you are human then you won't want to be on the phones for more than one year -- it is very stressful -- so make plans to move to another job the entire time you're on the phones.
