On the contrary, I think they're trying to save the job of their workers. Cutting down work time is one option companies take to save on expenditures without laying off anybody.

Well if you are not the only one who was cut in hours maybe they arent planning to fire you but they are going to close the doors on the company if you did not call in all the time and were a good worker you are not being let go for any other reason than shut down however if there are people who are still working many hours then it is just you and the people you know then i would say yes if there is a reason they do not just fire people any more they just cut the hours but if i were you id ask them why

It might just be a slow time. I mean businesses do get slow right around the holidays. People are buying Christmas stuff and that is all. But your company should have told you all something. I say go to them and ask when you guys are going to get back to 3-4 days a week because if you don't then you will have to go find another job.

The economy is slowing down and lots of companies are having to cut staff/trim expenses due to the decrease in business and the increase in every other expense.

Thank congress and the American consumer. Start looking for a new job before you are told the doors are closing.

If the volume of business is slacked off, I'd say you may be fired soon.
