I have had a broken neck and many problems but am wanting to work now but have not worked for years cause I had a very sick husband to tend to in the past. I am very artistic and have done illustrations for newspapers in the past. Any ideas of what I can be doing now and where I can start? I want to get right out there as soon as possible. It has to be something where I do not have to stand alot and do not lift anything. Just legitimate ideas please. I do not want any scam ideas to make money on the internet.

I work in the retail setting. I am an assistant manager who works for a manager who does not communicate at all and avoids confrontation at all costs. She constantly reworks projects I have done. Every time after I have left for the day only to find them fixed the next day. Never an explanation. I have no say in personnel matters such as hiring and firings. I have tried to give ideas and they have fallen on deaf ears. Also I will have an issue on a particular that only gets fixed when it affects her. A bad situation or is the problem my responsibility as well.

I am 21 yrs old, and work as an administrative assistant. (this is my first big job) I recently got Employee of the Year and have got promoted to (part time) Project Manager. I have new reasonability’s on top of my old ones. At my interview I was told that they would revaluate my pay in six months… I am two months over due and nerves about how to ask for my evaluation.

My questions are:

-How would I ask for an evaluation?
-What should I expect during the evaluation?
-How should I prepare for the evaluation?

I will be interviewed by the head of the Human Resources department. The same person who interviewed me.

In early October I interviewed for a graphic design job for a prestigious Long Island architecture firm that designs restaurants . The boss and his partners took me out to a very nice lunch and about an hour into the lunch , the boss turned to me and said " I think you would fit in perfectly with us, the job is yours!!!" Two days later I got a phone call from him telling me that he wants me to join them and go to a trade show in NYC in Mid November. He also told me that in the beginning of the next week he would call me and set up a day for me to come in and talk over a salary and benefits package. That was a month ago, I have called his office a few times and even spoke with him. He keeps repeating to me" The job is yours, and I look forward to seeing you at the convention." I need to know a starting date because I need to give a few weeks notice to my present job. My girlfriend thinks that he is stringing me along. How do I handle this with him????
I am starting to get angry.

Ideally, it would be about 35-40 hours per week. The pay doesn't have to be great. The most important part is an extremely flexible schedule and/or making my own schedule.

not sure of the prevailing wage now but it must be in the range of 2 to 3 thousand dollars an hour, depending, i suppose, on the scope of the project and the stupidity of the government agency and the committee assigned to the project...Or, another get rich scheme is to be a so-called "artist" and wrangle a piece of the pie that is called 1 % for the arts.... what an ignorant herd of sheep we the citizens are...we would be better off with privatization, eliminating the dullards in government and letting contractors complete projects, they would be more concerned with the bottom line, and hey, we could avoid that other waste of government money that goes to contractors now, called "change order costs" and the eventual inevitable lawsuit and settlement when the contractor does not finish project on time...let's throw it all back in their court, Eliminate government employees and their accompanying wages, benefits, etc. etc... Just my opinion.

I have been looking for a job where I can work with unwanted animals. I would really like to work with a Golden Retriver rescue group because I have a Golden myself, and I couldn't imagine life without him. I find Goldens to be very sweet, gentle, and basically fun-loving goofballs. I would be a volunteer, but I really need the money. Can anyone tell me of a rescue like this, in New Jersey? I've searched everywhere I could find on the internet, but all the places I found are located in another state. All answers will be greatly appreciated. Thankyou

Every damn job that I have had, someone has pointed out to me that I am defensive, strong willed or something else. As far as being/ sounding defensive- I think that I am just overly sensitive and I try to work on it, but its like I cant. I dont know how to react to certain situations to where I end up reacting negatively about it. And end up hating everyone there. As far as strong willed- I dont see anything wrong with it other than it may seem that I may on the attack of that person when speaking to them. I dont mean to come across that way...I really dont. I just want to tell them to get my point across. I just cant take constructive critism well I guess.

I really dont know why I am this way. I cant explain it. I am so tired or people complaining about me, telling me that same **** over and over, my mom not wanting to listen to me and telling me that I whine and complain too much when she complains too and I have to hear about it. I dont know what to do. Any suggestions?

Hi there
Alright I love my job but my problem is that my co-worker is always absent. She has missed 25 days so far this year because she is apparently "Sick" (even though I have caught her lying) so now I'm doing my job plus whatever needs to be done at her job. She also comes and goes as she pleases soemtimes showing up @10am and leaving at 4PM are hours are 8 -4 M-F or later depending on the work load - we both do exactly the same tyoe of work. She has not put in 40hours a week in 7 weeks. My bosses seem to just blow it off, but it is really starting to irritate me and make me dislike coming to work. Do I have a right to be irrated?? So my problem is that I'm not sure if I should voice my feeling to my bosses of if I should just keep them to myself. Thanks for those who could help or even relate. Could someone tell me how to get this conversation started.
PS - I have already spoke to her about her absences
