I had a interview for a account executive position last week and it went ell. I was told by the sales manager I would be contacted this week for a second interview with her gm. I have not heard anything yet and would like to send a follow up email. Any suggestions?

As mentioned above, a follow up may be good or bad, but, I would try a follow up as it show more of your interest in the position and motivation.
Try something like this, modified to your preference.
To whomever;
I enjoyed the opportunity to interview for the position of ________ and thank you for considering me. I wanted to follow up on what we discussed in the initial interview of speaking with the GM. Being a motivated person I would like to know if this will be possible in the near future, as I do want to be considered for this position, but, if I am not being considered would like to be informed as I will pursue other alternatives for employment. Thank you for your time. Sincerely Blah, Blah.

Follow up emails can either make you or break you.

Give it till thursday and call to see what happening. Have you sent a thank you email? Now would be a good time to send one and at the end just say "I look forward to meeting with the GM"

start with a greeting and then say thanks for the opportunity for interviewing the first time as you really felt like the company was a good fit for your future goals and you feel that you can make many positive contributions if given the opportunity.

next politely ask when can you expect your second interview to take place as you are very interested in the position.

thank him for his time and end with something like I look forward to your response in the next week.

if still no response call HR if possible or call the manager direct

Tiny Dan is sturdy. It appears like this company isn't a protracted term prospect, and in all probability going to be hell interior the fast term. Do it to maintain a roof over your head and locate some thing extra helpful as quickly as you are able to.

Wait til Friday. It's only Wednesday and they obviously are busy doing other things. You don't want to see pushy, but you do want to seem interested. I would simply call on Friday morning.

Phone them up or the waiting will torture you...go on...do it now!
Just ask them to confirm when they'll be seeing you. Good luck!
