In order to work as an attorney in the U.S., you need to pass the bar exam for the state in which you will be practicing. So you would have to pass the bar exam first and look for a job second. You could conceivably find an employer who would be willing to hire you without a U.S. law license, based strictly on your expertise in French law, lock you in the office and have you do research and drafting, but those are relatively few and far between...

Alternatively, you could apply for a position in the legal department with the French embassy or one of French consulates in the U.S...

I would suggest that you do a search on the Internet for Louisiana Bar Association, since that is the only state with the same code as yours.

take a trip here to the u.s. and look for some small law firms, and see if you can work for a period of time. Make sure that you tell them the period that you plan on working.

Contact the American Bar Association (http://www.abanet.org/) and see what they can do. Depending on the type of law that you practice, there may be some exchange programs.
