I am 21 yrs old, and work as an administrative assistant. (this is my first big job) I recently got Employee of the Year and have got promoted to (part time) Project Manager. I have new reasonability’s on top of my old ones. At my interview I was told that they would revaluate my pay in six months… I am two months over due and nerves about how to ask for my evaluation.

My questions are:

-How would I ask for an evaluation?
-What should I expect during the evaluation?
-How should I prepare for the evaluation?

I will be interviewed by the head of the Human Resources department. The same person who interviewed me.

Before asking for your evaluation make sure you are prepared in case they want to do right away. Make a list of your responsibilities, the ones you had when you were hired and the new ones you have taken on. Your assets and capabilities (which they must be aware of if you got EOY) but sometimes you have to sell yourself at an evaluation the same way you do at an interview. Then politely approach your HR person and let them know that from your employment interview you were under the impression you would have a salary evaluation in 6 months and tell them it has now been 8 months and you wanted to make sure you didnt misunderstand and that you would like to schedule that evaluation.
Good Luck

Here's how I would play it. Listen to how the evaluation goes. They may be two months behind due to the volume of work in HR. If you get a raise they will probably give you the raise retroactive. Meaning the raise goes into efffect the date of the 6 month. How I conduct an evaluation by giving positive and negative points never dwelling on the negative. Every employee has good points as well as bad. Listen to what has to be said without interuption and only comment when the floor is opened to comment. As far as preparing for the eval you have already done that with the quality of work you have done. To be named Employee of the Year is a great honor, you probably would not have gotten the promotion without good quality work. Good Luck I hope this helps

Ask for an appointment to go over your review. Tell your boss you have some questions and comments, so you would like a specific time when you are both ready, within the next week or so. Then expect to hear some constructive criticism. Also expect to be asked how you think you are doing. (I always did this). Just be honest and you'll do fine.

SIMPLY ASK YOUR SUPERVISOR ABOUT YOUR IMPENDING EVAL. AND WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT..

THAT WILL ALERT MANAGEMENT..
