not sure of the prevailing wage now but it must be in the range of 2 to 3 thousand dollars an hour, depending, i suppose, on the scope of the project and the stupidity of the government agency and the committee assigned to the project...Or, another get rich scheme is to be a so-called "artist" and wrangle a piece of the pie that is called 1 % for the arts.... what an ignorant herd of sheep we the citizens are...we would be better off with privatization, eliminating the dullards in government and letting contractors complete projects, they would be more concerned with the bottom line, and hey, we could avoid that other waste of government money that goes to contractors now, called "change order costs" and the eventual inevitable lawsuit and settlement when the contractor does not finish project on time...let's throw it all back in their court, Eliminate government employees and their accompanying wages, benefits, etc. etc... Just my opinion.

Wow! That's sounds like such a cool job! How do I become a consultant? Actually, I hear those overpaid baffoons in private industry leadership are even LESS careful about wasteful spending! There's so much more to be made in consulting in private industry! I have a relative that's already doing that, but he never quite explained how that works. Maybe he only works for gay executives?

ORC consulting suggests: eliminate EVERYONE! Kill them all! Profits galore for the company! Who needs those stinking humans anyhow!? Of course, you need to have systematic mechanization first, but eventually we can just replace every last stupid human with machinery. Ourselves included!

Privatization: works for industries where there is competition. As soon as you find a monopoly, however, all you have really done is re-created government, only now it has a snazzy private company name. Look at the privatization of water supplies in Britain: stupid mistake if you are a private citizen daring to drink the water! Private companies were incompetent and quality of service plummeted. In order to FORCE them to give quality service, NEW government agencies had to exist to insist on quality! What crap is that?? Profits over public health is not what I want unless I'm the one holding the profit margins and able to go to Sweden for my medical services.

Here's a better idea! Just reinstitute slavery while you're at it! Then there is NO pretense of the sort of society you're so eager to create. Civil and human rights? Public health? SCREW THAT, right? NOT good for profit margins! And definitely don't worry about a world where people care about one another. That's such bs anyway, right? It's all about money and messing other people over for it.

I can only hope that you were as sarcastic in asking this question as I am in answering it. Otherwise, the whole argument is just crap. Privatization doesn't solve all corruption problems, but just manages to generate new ones. Sorry! No simple answers for you!

Yeah, let's just let companies like Hallbuton run the county on a no bid contracts.

I'm sure the money they get from profiteering from the war and the massive billing discrepancies is put to better use than by those dullards in government anyway.

But no worries pal, the Republicans are nothing but shills to Big Business, Special Interests right now.

You are a TOOL to think differently.

***LOL, ORCS! post below... nail on the HEAD!***
