Taken,... is out of touch with the work environment when she says that employers aren't supposed to discriminate. In today's job market, with all the increases in medical insurance premiums, an employer HAS to weed out potential employees who present obvious health risks, such as smokers, the obese, or any number of other health problems.
Could your weight be a factor in gaining employment? I'd say it was the principle cause of you not getting job offers.

Yes, if your qualified for the job they may have not hired you because of your weight, which isnt right but does happen. Just make sure you have your game face on when you go into an interview.
You may want to exercise by just taking walks which is low inpack, to loose weight for your health not just for a job!

As bad as it sounds the answer is yes. A lot of people view a persons physical apperance as a big sign on how they will perform at work. A lot of peoplethink If a person does not take care of there own body then are they really going to go the extra mile at work. But just keep your head up. Everyones views are different.

I think that depends on the job, do you have a resume? Are you qualified? Do you have limited physical restrictions due to your weight? I would suggest going to the nearest unemployment office and speaking with someone who may be able to asess and assist you...Good Luck!

Most employers don't want to go to the trouble of hiring and training a person who looks like they are about to pass a Big Mac through their aorta. Loosing a few pounds probably wouldn't hurt your prospects.

Unfortunately yes it can. There can be a certain stigma (or Stereotype) associated that overweight people are lazy. With health care costs skyrocketing the company may be concerned that their insurance rates can go up, or that overweight people may not be as healthy, employee may not show up everyday, may be sick alot.
