I've allways wanted to have an office type job, but since I only finished High School I've only worked as QA Inspector for cosmetics and pharmaceutical companies. Now I have to decide if either going to a tech school for an Executive Assistant program (a year) or taking this job offer: temp to perm, Inspector,$18.00/hour.

I used this term in an email to manager simply to describe my envronment. HR started doing flips. Apparently employees are legally protected from this. They are jumping to address some of the underlying issues that they have been told about for several months, presumably to protect themselves against this "claim". However, based on my research there are a few things that must be there to meet hostile environment standard:
1. Its been going on for awhile - not just single incident
2. manager knew about it and nothing concrete was done
3. a reasonable person in the same situation would decide the situation was hostile
4. it directly impacts employees ability to perform their job.

Guess what? My situation fits this to a tee. I have documented proof of all the above.

What do I do now??? While they are running around trying to hurry fix it while they are denying it. I have endured this situation for 5months!!!!

I got home late last night and just picked up a message this morning from someone wanting to interview me for a Customer Service/Narrator position (for a cruise boat company), wanting me to come in today to interview.

I cannot come in to interview today as I am busy but I called back and told her (the interviewer) I'd be available for the rest of the week.

Now I'm a bit paranoid that she (the interviewer) won't call back; I'm worried that she WON'T call back. I called her this morning around 8-9 ish; would it be possible if I could call her back in the afternoon when she's available? Or should I be patient?

I have severe back problems and have tried for years with a Dr. and Chiropractor to fix it. From the moment I wake up I can barely walk and at least every hour I need to lay down and take the pressure off my spine. Well the bigger problem is that I need to work for my family and have only experience doing light clerical duties and child care, neither of which would work now due to my back. Time is running out, rent for Sept still isn't paid and my back gets worse daily. Any suggestions??? What can I do? Even sitting here my pain is at an 8 with childbirth being the 10. How can someone that is crippled like me make a living, and doing what because sometimes I can't even get out of bed?

Because my current contract is ending, I would consider lower paying jobs to avoid unemployment (depending on the benefits), but of course, I would prefer little to no paycut if possible. I have had people refuse to take "I am very willing to negotiate" as an answer because they want a concrete number, but I am afraid that giving my current salary may "scare off" some potential employers. What is the best way to address this?
