I have severe back problems and have tried for years with a Dr. and Chiropractor to fix it. From the moment I wake up I can barely walk and at least every hour I need to lay down and take the pressure off my spine. Well the bigger problem is that I need to work for my family and have only experience doing light clerical duties and child care, neither of which would work now due to my back. Time is running out, rent for Sept still isn't paid and my back gets worse daily. Any suggestions??? What can I do? Even sitting here my pain is at an 8 with childbirth being the 10. How can someone that is crippled like me make a living, and doing what because sometimes I can't even get out of bed?

If you really have to lie down all the time you probably need to work from home, or go on disability. There are a lot of disabled people who are eBay sellers. If you have no money though, it might be tough to acquire inventory for eBay sales. There is also virtual assistant. You can do clerical work from home. This is actually a big industry, and if you have the skills and experience you can make a living, but you also have to know how to promote yourself.

I am so sorry to hear this. It doesn't appear that you can do any work. You may need to apply for disability benefits. In fact I'm sure of it. Then apply for some grants to take on-line classes toward a degree. Maybe your condition will improve and by then you'll have a degree. I would certainly think about switching treatment in the mean time. Bless you and I hope things straighten out.

I'm wondering who you are. You seem to complain about your different woes every week (including your 12-year old son, husband, and daughter). In one of your other postings you stated "I want an interesting job outdoors that I can enjoy but cannot buckle down and take the crappy jobs even though I have little job experience", which appears to be contradictory to your immobile state. I recommend you be a little more truthful in your future posting.

About a job - internet is probably your only option if you're truly immobile. If do want a job outside, then apply at your local nursery.

Finally - talk to your doctor. He will be the one referring you to disability.

Check with the state and find out how you can become registered as a disabled person under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Once you do that, find out what programs your state offers in terms of job training and job placement. My wife has myotonic muscular dystrophy and can't teach anymore, so she's going in to Michigan Rehabilitative Services for help. The state and Federal agencies will help you find a job that you can do given your limitations.

So, can you not even sit for long periods of time? Would you be able to get a job answering telephones, like maybe at some sort of call center/customer service? Have you looked into things you could do from home? Good luck, that is a difficult problem.

Maybe you need to change doctors.
If you haven't done it.
the others are right you need to get disability benefits.

for an ocupation you need to research in the ocupational outlook handbook site. there, every ocupation is described and the physical requirements as well.
http://www.bls.gov/oco/
maybe an arts and crafts job is your call

an advise,
once you are working, try to save money and as much as you can or as little as you can. Whatever money that you bring in is good if you save something.
your best job would be to have your own business or invest in something like real estate
I've done more of what I've ever done in my life by investing in the right real estate market.
I'm a graphic designer and I work from home. sometimes (most times) my income is unstable, so I have to save to make ends meet.
anyways, having invested in real estate has given me the confidence to work on my own. If something happens I have those properties to back me up.
It's good to have a back up plan.

Good luck!

Well...if you take up writing you can work from your home...but it won't pay the rent just yet. You should look into unemployment or disabilities for now. What about your husband...what's going on with him? I know you mentioned him in past questions...are you two still together? Seriously, email me if you need a friend.

It sounds like you are going to have to apply for SSI because there is nothing that you can do if you are in a dibilitated state then you are considered disabled and can get a check from SSI. In the mean time apply for assistance until your check can come through. You can apply on line for your money.

Phone order taking from home?
Do you have a degree? Can you do counseling at home?
Can you get disability from social security? Have you tried?
I once knew someone who slept in a funeral home at night just to keep an eye on things.
Motel desk clerk at night? (Rest when nobody is there?)

Try for disability a.s.a.p. also
