And I still haven't started work, what do I do? I call the Human Resource Manager daily as he requested, and I get no response, even after numerous messeges. What do I do? Is there a law in California in regards to when an employer hires you and how soon there after they must provide you with work? I was promised work, but I don't get a response, doesn't human resources have to contact you to let you know anything?

My partner travels a lot due to his job: a few months here, a few months there...but a weekend relationship is not for me...I travelled with him before but it was difficult to find work for me...can anybody give me info about working from home (wherever that may be) or any other idea that would lead to some sort of solution? Is there a network of temping agencies? Is there anybody out there facing the same dilemma????

I worked for food lion and their inventory came up $90,000 short, so they hired loss prevention investigators to interview all employees. For some reason I got suspended. When I went to give them my letter of resignation (2 weeks later) they told me I had been terminated. I then applyed for a new job and I started training this week. Should i still seek unemployment from food lion? Since i won't be getting paid for a few weeks. Im so broke.

I was currently working at a gas station here in town, but then quit cause this boss was a complete ***. They were working employees without breaks or lunch (after 8 1/2 hours). After I quit my fiance went in there one night to get a pop, the machine was out of syrup so he threw the cup away, the manager then calls my house, telling him she doesnt appreciate him doing this and not to do it again..ok where does she get off calling my house, can you do this to customers? Then today we went to get a pop, she tells him you are not allowed to park in front of the pumps, unless you are getting gas, ok half the people in there were parked in front of the pumps, without getting gas...and she doesnt say anything to them? What I am wondering is if this is considered harassment? I already contacted the main branch of this place, and they never called back I think this is unethical, and very rude! While working there I have heard here tell customers off. Who should I call?

My company hired a new employee, she started on Wednesday 8/02/06 and already called in sick on Friday and Monday. She left early on Thursday for a doctor's appointment, she said it was for a physical but when she called in sick she said she had vertigo which was diagnosed during her physical. I did some research and found that you need to see an ENT doctor and have a CT scan to be diagnosed with vertigo. Can we still fire her or are we obligated to keep her employed because she has a medical condition?

I'm thinking about a career change and taking vocational classes for medical coding/billing. Do you or anyone you know do this for a living? I'd just like to hear some opinions from someone who is experienced in this field. Things that would be good to specialize in, what to do/not do etc. Thanks!
