A gigantic key is to clearly understand what your boss and senior management think, "success" is. What do they value and recognize?

If you want the raise, the promotion, a big part of it making sure you engineer, or are a big part of, prominent, valued successes.

I think (for me anyway) it's just knowing what I've been through in life already, knowing that I don't want to end up back where I started and thinking to myself that I didn't struggle this much just to give up. I have a goal, I know where I want to be in life and I'm just giving everything I have to reach that goal.

People have lots of Ideas of what success is.
And there are allot of things that can influence you to succeed.

Some people are successful for there spouse or kids.
Some people succeed out of corporate patriotism. ( that's sorta were I fall )
Some people succeed for them selves.
Some people just to see if they can.

Passion for what you are trying to achieve and those smiling faces of my kids who make me want do anything possible to make it easier for them then I had it.

(but if my success p.o.'s some enemies in the process.. that's a definite added bonus)
