I have a degree in broadcast journalism and I'm trying to find a job in my field but afraid it won't come soon enough. Should I get a job "just for now" and work to pay my bills or wait to find the dream job that will determine my career? I doubt doing both will give me any flexibility for one or the other. I'm stuck...HELP ME PLEASE!

I was layed off from that position due to downsizing and since I've been looking for a new job, the employers are calling my previous job for references and she is the one answering the phone.. she tells them that I have an attitude and never really wanted to work. This is not true! Isn't there legal issues here as far a deffamation of character. I can't get a job because she's been talking crap! I know there's some kind of laws. HELP!

If employee voluntarily goes on salary to financially help a business, is he obligated to stay on it once the business is back on its feet?
What if employee is on hourly wage and works in excess of 40 hours? Can employer elect NOT to pay overtime or is this illegal in state of PA?

I have a background in media and account management, and have worked on campaigns for some of the biggest brands in the USA, primarily CPG and financial sectors, but also have had some pharma and service sector accounts. I will be completing an internship in a few weeks at a small company which specializes in foam fabrication and conversion. I will have been there this entire summer (~ 3 months). Although I do not have an official title or do they have an offical engineer working there, my duties closely resemble one of a Manufacturing Engineer. I will graduate this coming December with a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. How much more likely am I to now land a job immediately after graduation? Should I even expect landing a job right after college?

Can anyone think of jobs that'll keep you active and moving? In the summer, camp was a good choice.. but now that's summers over, I'm trying to find something else. I don't wanna get stuck on my butt all day again at a job if I don't have to. Oh, the job must have a stable, reliable pay.

Thanks. ^^

I would like to obtain a career in computers, I have not decided which specific area though. I would like to avoid a year school/degree. What is really the best subfield of computers to get into. Graphic design? IT? Software? Hardware? Analyst?

Is there a website that helps you define and figure out which area you should get into as an individual? Thanks.
