I will be completing an internship in a few weeks at a small company which specializes in foam fabrication and conversion. I will have been there this entire summer (~ 3 months). Although I do not have an official title or do they have an offical engineer working there, my duties closely resemble one of a Manufacturing Engineer. I will graduate this coming December with a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. How much more likely am I to now land a job immediately after graduation? Should I even expect landing a job right after college?

An internship is immensely valuable to a graduating college student like yourself. You have ~3 months' experience--3 months' head start as you begin to understand what the job and career is all about. Trust me, employers don't mind skipping the very, very basic training all new employees need.

Regarding your chances of getting a job right after college: YOU HAD BETTER try everything possible to get a job lined up BEFORE you graduate. This is when it is easiest. You have employers recruiting on-campus, you have professors to entertain questions, you have a university system avalable to helop you in the job search. Get it done this fall.

By the way, you are going to a great engineering school. There was a time when I would say you should be close to accepting a job by the time you tore the Boulder Mall apart at Halloween, but I don't know if that is still the event it once was...

Go throw some oranges on Folsom on Saturdays (do they still do that?), enjoy yourself, but get a job ASAP.

i'm in an identical place to you. I basically started my first extremely job as a dishwasher in a cafe, and that i'm nonetheless at college. I additionally get reliable grades clearly, yet i got here upon that I conflict somewhat protecting up with the workload at paintings. places like that purposely larger newcomers like me so as that they could get a minimum of a few paintings journey, and that i could say it extremely is going to help me very much interior the long-term. many roles require reliable grades and journey, yet reliable grades on my own will no longer be nicely worth plenty, except they are keen to coach you.

The more experience you have on your resume', the better your chances. Period. Still, bone up on your interview skills. Become the complete package. Good Luck!
