IRS Publication 502 states that orthopedic shoes are allowable medical deduction, but only for the cost 'above normal shoes.' It does not specify how much regular shoes should cost. Does anyone know if the IRS has a standard cost of regular shoes they use for this?

No, I'm not referring to those whose identity has been stolen. I mean those that have, from their own irresponsibility, have bought so much stuff that they are now in mountains to debt. Why should we give them so much sympathy and help? Their are credit card debt help organizations left and right nowadays. It is their fault, their irresponsibility, so as far as I am concerned, they deserve what they get.

I am really strugglin here. I dont know if i should get a degree. I want to start my own business..probably web-based. I dont feel i need to get a degree because i dont plan on being employed by anyone but myself. I dont mind taking classes at a community college..I just think the degree thing is a wast of time for me...Is there anybody out there like me????

Please no comments from close-minded ppl that believe the only way to achieve success is through degrees

I'm considering becoming a physicians assistant but I've always wanted to be a pediatric nurse because I love working with kids. So is there a special major I need to take to specialize in children or would I just work at a childrens hospital or something...I'm also debating whether to be a physicians assitant or RN so any tips on that would be great!!

I only have a decent amount of experience in one field. (Veterinary Assistant.) It seems as if no one will hire me. I have applied for other job but due to my lack of experience in, lets say, customer service I do not get hired. I have applied at every place near my house for the veterinary assisting....

I was in India for a few months and now I have some extra rupees. Bank of America told me it's impossible to exchange rupees for dollars in the United States because it's apparently illegal to bring rupees outside of India. Does anybody know of a place that'll still do the exchange or did I just lose $300? Thanks for the info.

yea believe it or not, I just found my state tax return for georgia, I knew I had it packed away somewhere as it got lost in some papers at some point, of course it is now void because it is way over the 180 days mark after issued, what can I do about getting this renewed, any info, phone #'s or wesite links are greatly appreciated, also do I need to get this done before the end of the year?!?!?!?!

With inflation currently at about 4.5%, should companies give their employees annual pay rises to at least match this so that their workers are not getting effectively poorer every year?

I signed up for a job at wendys since its a walk away from my house plus I need to save up for school....education is not free...sadly.

Anyway I got a call back and was very thrilled since my job searching days are over.

But the manager there said it takes two interviews and thinks I would be be perfect.

So she said she will call me either tomorrow or in two days so I can talk to manager number two.

She calls and tells me to come in.

So she has me fill out alot of paper work I mean alot....so an hour later am done.

She tells me she messed up and the manager was not here today but will call me in two days and it is possible I have to write all over again.

So after the two days I call her and she said something about the other manager but she will call.

Now its been three days and no calls...did they give up on me?
Is the other manager ever going to call?
Is this even normal?

We bought our house in June and 3 days after we met our neighbors who stated they were surprised the house sold so soon because it is the path of a bridge project and the agent was on the committee to have the project stopped. Since this was not disclosed can we sue them. We just got information that we may not be in our house a year before the try to buy us out and tear it down.

i really love my man of 11 years and we always wanted to get married but i always pushed things back because i am worried what it will do to me financially to take his name.

as i see, marriage joins u in more than 1 way and i dont agree. my credit is currently being repaired and he can care less what his credit is like and is not good at paying things on time. we have always maintained our own money and bills and that works fine for us but how can i marry this man out of love without getting stuck with all his back bills and wage garnishments and completely destroying my tax return??

is there any possible way? i'll love him til death but i will have to kill him if he messes up what i have been working for the past 3 years....

anyone who says its not about money doesnt have a clue what i have seen. unfortunately, its not only about love and thats my issue.

does that mean they don't want to hire you? I applied at a restaurant, got to the second interview, then told them the reason I was fired(scheduled against my availability and was unaware, and therefore didn't show). I applied two months after the interview, and just did it again the other day, and this was the reply I got upon turing in my application. Should I ask them if I should even bother the next time I apply?

It happend either today or yesterday. And this is not the first time it has happened. I know now not to bring money to work but I need to find out who stole it because I'm almost positive I'm leaving for another job soon. My workplace doesn't even have cameras and the managers won't even do anything about it except tell me not to bring money...How messed up is that???

I just landed a job with a government contractor, my position will an office job on a base. I have really no idea how formal I should be. My job will be the IT manager. I have done work as a onsite tech for many years and have always been the guy who craws through attics and other dirty stuff so I was always in uniform. I know how to handle this job, I just have no idea how to dress? Any ideas!!! I will be doing easy IT stuff, lots of paperwork, but nothing dirty.

The new job will pay $25k/yr more than I am making now and I would be a pretty high level in a very large company in the transportation industry. I am very excited about the big salary boost and chance to work for a good company, but am concerned that if a recession hits and they need to lay off people, I will be the first to go since I am the newest one on, and this is a newly created position just for me.

What do you think? Would you be concerned about taking the job?
