I'm considering becoming a physicians assistant but I've always wanted to be a pediatric nurse because I love working with kids. So is there a special major I need to take to specialize in children or would I just work at a childrens hospital or something...I'm also debating whether to be a physicians assitant or RN so any tips on that would be great!!

A better answer for you, as you want to work specifically with children, is to get a BSN and become an RN... then work as a pediatric nurse, and/or go on to your masters degree in nursing (MSN) and become either a pediatric or neonatal nurse practitioner. Another choice would be to become a family nurse practitioner and then limit your work to children.

PAs perform a valuable service, but their course is as a generalist, and then they usually do additional training to work in specific fields. Whereas, NPs generally train to work in a specific function. Additionally, going through nursing school would allow you to work with all age groups, and enable you to decide from experience.

Either way, you would be helping people.

Good Luck!

I agree with Sufi....get your RN first. Then you can see how you feel about that and if you want to advance.. Nursing is a great career and always is in high demand.
