I was in India for a few months and now I have some extra rupees. Bank of America told me it's impossible to exchange rupees for dollars in the United States because it's apparently illegal to bring rupees outside of India. Does anybody know of a place that'll still do the exchange or did I just lose $300? Thanks for the info.

Travelex and AFEX both buy and sell Indian rupees, and both have branches in most major cities. To find a branch near you, check this web site

Click the "Find a branch" link at the bottom of the page.
