Ok, I had a bad 4-wheeler accident a few weeks ago on my farm and had to go to the ER and have surgery. Since then I have had another surgery and I've had to put off job searching. I've been on unemployement and now that has stopped. I now have no money coming in except for my partner's income, which does not pay all the bills. I do have health insurance, but it only pays a portion of the medical bills. My question is, since the home and home owners insurance is in my partner's name can I sue her and her insurance pay for it. Her policy has 100,000 personal liability. We are getting more and more in debt and think this might work. Has anyone done this or know someone who has? Did you claim medical, loss of wages, pain and suffering, ect.?

The house is in two people's name. One of the two is the one filling bankruptcy. The person filling bankruptcy lives in Arizona. The house in question is in New Mexico and is the mother's primary house. The court is saying that the bankruptor must come up with a specific amount of money otherwise the house will be sold. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

I have USA First Class written on my stamp and I am wondering if I can use them to mail my letter. If I can, how many will I need? I think I need only one but I'm not sure. My mail is just a piece of paper (letter) in it so I don't think it weights more than 2 oz. Thanks for the help.

I have more credit card debt than I am comfortable with. The warning bells are going off in my head. I've built it up slowly over time with the small stuff and the occasional big item or purchase (like a TV and some emergency home repairs)

I owe about $16,000 to 7 different companies, some larger balances, some small.

I am able to make the payments, but I just don't like the amount I've reached. If I allocate a certain amount each month to credit card payments, should I try to pay off the smaller balances and get rid of them or just spread it around evenly? My score is excellent so I wouldn't consider a "counseling" program.

On my W-2, I put 5 allowances per the work sheet provided. I am hearing alot of mixed comments. Some say that the more you allowances you put the less money you will get back. Then I hear that is does not matter since I am a single mother. Does any one know what is the best way to get a high return? I tried calling H & R Block but all the offices are closed.

Hi! I am trying to rent a condo going through a realtor (and the owner is represented by his realtor). I cancelled the contract because they could not get me approved in the time stated on the contract. Now the broker of the realtor who was representing me (I gave them the 2 months & received a receipt) states that I have to give her proof that my check was cashed because she can not look into the account and spouted off (extremly angrily) some B/S about some bank privacy act. I am not going to obtain any proof that my check was cashed because it costs me $10 to receive the image. The owner agreed to cancel the contract, so that is not a problem. I tried searching everywhere on DBPR & FREC and other sites for something regarding this, but no luck. Why would this broker be requiring something like this? I used to work in real estate, and this seems a little bit fishy to me. Thanks for your help!

I returned something to Best buy and because it was over $250, they need to give my money back by sending a check. When they asked me for my name, I thought they were asking like they always ask for phone numbers so I just gave them the name my friends call me and not my legal first name. I did use my legal last name though. So would my bank (TCF) cash that check for me even though it doesn't have the same first name as the one on my account?

If you do 80 hrs a week work. thats 40 hrs overtime. Do you pay more taxes? specially if your single?

Or might as well stay on the 60 hrs a week rule. with only 20Hrs overtime and you pay less taxes.

I know you get the tax refund back. but if your single you will never get half of it.... or am I wrong here?

btw im only part time minimum of 20 hrs a week. but my company let us do more than that as you can see.

Working here in florida.

We are a contract company for cable/communications providers. We have an extra truck that we use for work. Can we lease it weekly to a 1099 subcontractor legally without any ramifications? If so, do we note the mileage before we lease it out, and only claim the mileage up to that date? (I assume the Subcontractor would claim the other miles or gas since he would be responsible for the gas/oil/ etc.) Please advise.

Hi,

I am currently looking for a new job but I'm also a partner in a company. Our business is not in competition with the type of company I am applying for jobs with. Is it best practice to keep quiet about this?

I realise that different employers will have different clauses in their contracts but how could they actually find out? I assume they probably could if my tax code changes.

The jobs I am going for are in the 30k region. I would only need to earn £4601 more before I have to pay the 40% bracket.

I realise an accountant is the best person to ask about this but some general guidance or hearing of similar situations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Bob
