I have been working for the same law firm for 2 years now. We have been having financial difficulty for the last few (4) months, and I think things are coming to a head. I have been paid late before, but never had a check bounce. I paid my bills when I got my check, and now, I have NO money in my account because the paycheck didn't clear. The checks I wrote to pay bills are good, but I have nothing left. My boss has even been talking about pawning his watch to make ends meet, and the firm is in $100,000 (at least) of debt. The problem is that since my boss never withheld taxes on me, because of him, I owe the IRS nearly $6000 in debt - he said he'd pay his part for me, leaving $1500 for me to pay, which is fine. But if I quit, I will never get the $4500 from him, and have to pay it all. He never reported me as his employee because he doesn't pay or report his taxes, and thus, I have to pay contract employee taxes (2X higher). I don't even know what to do anymore.

WHAT DO I DO?!?!?!?!

Heres the deal, we went to the bank this morning, the bank tried to call the lawyer to get a closing date, (lawyer was in court) so we couldnt set a date today, however that is in the works. The loan officer said they "we're preparing the packet." So my question is what is the "packet"?

We have already done all inspections, appraisals, title search, etc. This week we will do our final walk-through and get our closing date. What are the odds that we will actually close on this house? Just to put my mind at ease! Thank you guys so much. You have helped me so much throughout this process!

Now the neighbor is arguing that since the river has changed course that my land now is his; i do not beleive this is true; it cut off a chunk of land nearly 60 acres in size ; that is now inaccesible from the rest of my property. What is the rule when something like this happens; surely a person doesnt lose their land simply because of a change in the way the river runs!

I am thinking about moving overseas to Europe in the next 3 months and will not be returning the near future, and am wondering how that affects my 401K here in the US? Can I withdraw all the money or am I going to lose a lot of it to taxes and my employer due to their contributions? I also have a loan out on it with a while to go on it before it's paid off! What are my options? Sensible answers please. Thanks!

I had posted an item on Craigslist for $400. I got an email from a man saying he wanted to buy it...he had told me he was going to send me a check for $1500 to cover shipping costs, then send him the leftover money....well I got the check and put it into my bank account...8 days later the check was taken out of my account because it was fake...but the bank did'nt say it was fake, but the guy sent me a fake check to basically rob me, Im just glad I didn't send him the ring, but I have and address the guy gave me can't I call the cops? And should the bank be at fault for this considering they didn't do any tests on it and just took it , and didn't even give me any notice they took it out??

My landlord claims that my roommate's check bounced even though the money is in the account. Because of this, he wants payment either in money order, certified check, or cash. The first two options cost me a fee, and the last is unreliable, since the rent is given to a super who holds it until the landlord decides to come by to pick up payment (he sometimes doesn't come by until the 10th or even the 20th). I offered to compromise and have my roommate pay me, so that I can cut one check each month. I've never bounced a check, and my payments have always been on time, even if the landlord decides to not cash my check for two months (he took a trip to Italy, and hasn't even deposited my Sept and October checks yet). I feel helpless, and don't know how much I should fight for without coming across as a bad tenant. I know that this is simply a matter of winning their trust, but what's the best approach?

ok well my aunt want to sell me her house for $25.000 and its a real fixer upper! its totally trashed. i am 21 yrs old i just got fired, but i will have another job soon. so i would need about $50.000 all together for the house it self, and the money to fix it up. i have no credit at all. never had a credit card or anything like that. i was also thinking about having a realtor, come and look at the house to see how much it would really cost. i know its way less then what she offered. mabye like $15.000 or so... she also mentioned a (rent to own) deal. but i really need the money to fix it up.
so do you think i would be eligible for a loan? whats the best way i could for sure get one? i have a boyfriend also.. he would be with me all the way.

An investor can choose to invest $100,000 between two different stock investments, a utility stock with an expected return of 5.6% and a standard deviation of returns of 3%, or a growth stock with an expected return of 9.5% and a standard deviation of returns of 9.9%. Returns of the two stocks have a correlation of zero.

What is the standard deviation of returns of an equally weighted portfolio of the two stocks?
Portfolio standard deviation?

My sister-in-law had an account that went to collections in 2004. She fought and debated with them for 3 years, now they're threatening to put it on her credit. I told her that they may show the original 2004 collection date instead of showing it as a new collection. She's concerned that it will show as a new collection instead of one that's already 3 years old. She says the statue of limitations is 5 years in her state, so she's thinking that if they show the 2004 date (when it was originally placed for collection), that she'll have a better chance of it being off sooner. I may have given her incorrect information. Anyone have any input? Thanks.

Recenlty had a tenant that lived in my condo for a little over a year, and just left. She had not paid rent for two months and left my condo in Utter Shambles. I do not know where she moved to and I am wondering what can I do to get the money she owes me, and can I claim property damage. The women set my stove unfire over the summer, the carpet is filthy, the entire unit is absolutley Filthy, it will take atleast a month to scrub the place down. She never paid a security deposit, because she was a single women going through problems in the begining I felt horrible for her, because I had gone through the same situation and we were to agree on some type of payment plan in regards to working out the security deposit. Any advice would be fantastic.
