I recently joined a credit counseling service because I am a college student that got way in over my head with credit cards. I was painted into a corner and had nowhere else to turn- so first and foremost I do not regret doing it. When my dad found out, though, he went ballistic. He said I basically had just filed for "partial bankruptcy" and it would kill my credit score. I've read other accounts that say that credit counseling shouldn't hurt your credit. I really want a definitive answer on this. Does it hurt your credit or not? And if so, how badly?

I didn’t file taxes for 2005 or 2006. I moved around a lot during at that time and had a hard time keeping track of my W2's and not loosing them. One major place I worked for doesn’t even exist anymore (the Maytag call center “Randstad”, is gone now that whirlpool took over) and they sent my W2 to the wrong place! Now there is no one I contact to get another one. I need to know the best SAFE way to request my back W2's for 2005 and 2006. I don’t care if it costs a fee but I want to file for these years when I file for 2007. I'm 99.9% positive I'm owed money back for these years and I don’t want to loose out now. I guess you could call me a power procrastinator. Can anyone tell me the best way to get copies of my W2’s before tax season? I've tried looking on my own at irs.gov and all I found was a form for back returns that included a copy of the W2's. I didn’t file so that wouldn’t work for me right? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you!!!

The washing machine I own malfunctioned and flooded part of the apartment I rent. The landlord is billing me for charges incurred for replacing the carpet padding and providing blowers to dry the carpet.

I have renter's insurance and have been told that the damages should be covered by the liability portion of it.

I asked the rental office's manager to file a liability claim with my insurance company, but she refuses to do so and wants me to pay the bill right away.

I have also been told that I can not file this claim against myself. Is this information correct? If so, what should I do?

I have roaches in my current apartment. There aren't a LOT of roaches (I have SEEN 5 or 6 total within 3 months, 4 or 5 alive and one dead, but where there are 5, I'm scared there are 5,000) but I am worried that they'll get into my boxes and things and come with me when I move. They are the reason I'm moving out in the first place, my management isn't really taking care of the problem and I feel gross. Is there anything I can do to help prevent them from coming with me? Suggestions welcome.

I know Bank of America and La Salle have merged, so can I use a La Salle ATM to deposit into my Bank of America account yet? My friends say I can deposit into any ATM as long as it will read my card and PIN, I just will be charged a service fee. There are no Bank of America ATMs or branches where I now live.

You sign up for a new Credit Card...
the agent tells you about some "Special Programs" that
are available to you...
for example:
1- Payment Protection
2- Identity Protection

You know you DO NOT want them...
You know you would NOT and HAVE NOT authorized them...
Yet, they appear as charges on your FIRST STATEMENT.

This has happened to me before, and has just happened again...
the (monthly) charges are $11.99 for one and $16.49 for the other...

I'm in the process of cancelling both...

How common is this for charges that you DO NOT want and
you never authorized to appear on your statement anyway?

I've been a bank teller for 3 months and just recently started feeling like I know what I'm doing. These past 3 months I've felt like quitting because I was always asking lots of questions but today something just "clicked" and I really felt confident and like I've really caught on.

Is this common? I've felt like such an idiot for the past 3 months. Is it normal to take 3 months to really "catch on" or am I just "slow"?

Amy Martinez is a student who plans to attend approximately four professional events a year at her college. Each event necessitates a financial outlay of $100–$200 for a new suit and accessories.
After incurring a major hit to her savings for the first event, Amy developed a different approach. She buys the suit on credit the week before the event, wears it to the event, and returns it the next week to the store for a full refund on her charge card.
