I've been a bank teller for 3 months and just recently started feeling like I know what I'm doing. These past 3 months I've felt like quitting because I was always asking lots of questions but today something just "clicked" and I really felt confident and like I've really caught on.

Is this common? I've felt like such an idiot for the past 3 months. Is it normal to take 3 months to really "catch on" or am I just "slow"?

Don't knock your self for being safe. So what you've been asking question for three month its a lot better then making big mistakes.

Hey Cecelia. It can take a long time to learn the ins and outs of the business, so don't beat yourself up. It is more important that you know how to do what you do well than that you learn it very quickly; most people who make the mistake of believing that they know everything there is to know about their jobs right off the bat are those that spend the next six months making mistakes b/c they don't ask questions. Chances are that you've been doing better than you think you are, so hang in there :-)

It took me the better part of five years of being a scientist before if stopped feeling like a total idiot, I spent the next twenty years learning that you can't know it all.

Any new job takes time to get used to and adjust. And every job will be a different length of time adjusting, it depends on the responsibilities and what all is involved to. So yes, it is prefectly normal.

Hi Cecilia.. It is perfectly normal.. Average time to get used to a job is 4-6 months. Good luck and don't give up!!! ;-)

All jobs have a learning curve .
Do not be so harsh with yourself .

It takes time to get all the nuances .
