Yes, I've reviewed resumes on a daily basis before and any gramatical errors ..gets "Chapter 7" Trashed.......You can view in google peoples resumes by searching resume.doc and save to your desktop and use it as a template...i would also chuck resumes that did not have good flow...too lengthy...or too wordy. Keep it simple stupid. Try to keep it on one page...I hated anything longer than that. Use these three headers:

Summary/Skills

Professional Experience

Education

Here is an example of summary/skillset:

It really depends on the type of job because a typo in a resume shows lack of attention to detail, not 100% typing skills, carelessness, so if you are going for an admin, typist, accountant job, they will care very much about this. If its the only one and you simply mixed up the letters liek tihs then is should be ok but not spelling errors.

It can if it's a 'grammatical' error, less if it's a punctuation error. Your best bet is to do your resume on the computer and after you have 'checked it over to be sure everything is correct, have another person, who can 'write well' and who knows how to do a resume look it over ... then and only then PRINT, and make at least 15 copies, because you may 'want one' quickly, and not have time to get to your computer and find the file it's in. Good luck in your job hunt!

Yes if definitely does. Employers first impression of you is your resume so if there are simple errors then they may assume you are lazy or not detailed oriented. Some employers may overlook it IF they decide to hire you. But I know this really effects your chances of even being interviewed. If you know there is a mistake, correct it and resend it to the perspective employer. That will show that you are paying attention to detail and have realized you mistake.

It definitely depends on the job. If you are applying to be a secretary or editor, and good spelling is critical, then yes. If you have amazing experience in a field that is desperate for applicants, then they will overlook it.

Depends on the seriousness of the mistake. In some cases (depending on the job you are applying for) it shows lack of attention to detail (imagine CFO being dyslexic) in others cases it may show your humanity (liberal arts major LOL).

It certainly isn't a plus...since you are aware of it, why don't you fix the error on your resume. Then you won't have to worry about it.
