Bank of America is a little tricky with their mergers. I work for them and right now they have 3 different systems. One for when they bought out Seafirst in WA and ID and one in CA and one for the rest of the country. Right now you are able to go about your normal business. Bank of America at some point or another MAY put La Salle on the same system as the rest of the country but it is highly unlikely because it is not very cost effective depending on the amount of total branches. If you were able to deposit money into the atm before at a La Salle atm into your La Salle account, that has not changed, just the logo and company name. All the systems in place are the same for now. The only problem you would have is that if you went out of town and tried to do a deposit into that account from a bank of america branch. It wouldn't work because of the fact that the systems are not in place. Since it sounds like you currently have a bank of america account, to make your life easier i would close that one and open up a La Salle account (even though it's all under the bank of america roof) because you won't ever be able to deposit into a bofa account from a la salle atm unless they merge the systems together.

I work at a Credit Union as an officer and used to work at a bank as a teller, and more people then you think really think you can do this... Its not a dumb question, its just you have never been educated on the subject. Your not the only one to ask this... Credit Unions have "credit union service centers" that they can belong to and a lot of different credit unions partner with them so all over the US you can use the CUSC.... I dont actually know if there is a Banking service Center that does the same, and if your bank is a partner with them if there is...... But it may be something to look into... See if they are partnered with any other banks that will accept checks to deposit into accounts drawn off their name. But to answer your question, NO you have to go to your Bank to deposit, Mail it in, or put it in a night drop, or deposit to an ATM that accepts your deposits for credit. Do know that if you deposit to an ATM only the first $100 will be available and the rest will be on hold, it is up to the banks descretion to drop off the hold.... Good Luck....

If B of A and LaSalle have already merged then yes, you can deposit to a B of A or LaSalle ATM. The tellers pull the deposit envelopes and process them the same as if you walked in the branch so using a Compass Bank ATM would never work.

I can't give a definitive answer about BofA and LaSalle. I can tell you ANY ATM will read your card and accept the PIN. That does NOT mean you can make a deposit at that machine. I recommend calling the customer service number that should be on the back of the card. If they can't tell you, I doubt anyone here can.

I wouldn't. You should have received a whole packet of information, new checks, deposit tickets, ATM card, PIN, and a date when you can start to use them. It's been my experience when banks merge, it takes awhile for the old bank to go away and actually become one with the new bank.

Then I would take your checks and open a new account
in your area and find one that is free checking and free
ATM use.

Yes you can, I get away with it all the time. Whether or not they think it's OK... I don't know. But who cares? :)
