This question is WAY to broad for a meaningful answer. It varies greatly depending on the type of law practiced, the size of the firm, and how long the lawyer has practiced. On the low end, a public defender fresh out of law school makes less than the buildings custodians. On the high end, a senior partner of a firm dealing in class action lawsuits could make more than the Federal government.

OK I exaggerated a little, but the point is valid.
