I actually have a couple of questions.
1) The house I live in has been put up for sale. (It is a 3 family home) What are my rights when the house is bought? How much notice do the new owners have to give us before they either a)evict us or b) raise our rent?
2) Does the current owner or realtor have the right to show the apartment when we are not home? I have pets, so this is important to me.
3) When we moved in, we were granted storage space in the basement and for the past couple of months, the landlord has had a padlock on the basement door and won't give us a key. Can she do that?
Thanks in advance for your help

I have worked for this company, off and on, since February of 2004. When I say 'off and on', I mean I've worked until work slowed and then I would go work at another company until work picked back up (construction). At first I was getting paid as an actual salaried employee (taxes taken out, etc.), and then after around roughly a year, work slowed down and I got another job. After about 2 or 3 months, I quit my job and went back to this company because I could make a lot more money. I have done the same thing over and over, except I have been getting paid 1099-MISC since early 2005. I have asked him several times over the whole course of time, if he would start taking out my taxes again. He has always promised me or avoided my question some how. I've been riding in company vehicles and I work next to a guy that has his taxes taken out. I have my own tools but they supply materials and ladders, etc. Is this 1099 Misclassification?

Does anyone know of a legit work at home stuffing envelopes job. I received a letter in the mail but it just sounds too good to be true! I really do not feel comfortable sending people money so that they can rip me off. I have a 3 month old baby and I go 2 school so I am looking for a job that I can do at home!

We were seperated 2 years ago. I signed a quit claim deed and gave him the property shortly after. He re-financed the house without me on the loan, I no longer lived there and we are now divorced. They ran the title BEFORE the quit claim deed was filed since my ex sat on it for some time. Earlier this year I received paperwork re: the foreclosure of his house. I was named as one of the defendants. I filed a response with copies of the quit claim deed and proof I was NOT a signer on the current mortgage. I WAS on the title but am not any longer and again, I was not involved in the re-financing of the house. A judgement has been made and I am still (according to the court) responsible. How is that possible and am I truly responsible?

After I got married, on my W-4, i claimed 9 allowances because I have two step children and my wife who doesn't work. as well as changing my status from Single to Married. That boosted my check by almost $300 per month.

If I get divorced before the end of the year, will I be forced to file as a single person with no dependents? In other words, will I owe thousands of taxes back? ($300 X 12 months = $4800).

Am I correct in these assumptions, or will I get some kind of break because for most of the year I was married and supported two children?

It doesn't seem fair that, say, for the first 10 months of the year, you support a wife and two kids, and then comes January, you have to file as a single person with no defendants just because of a late year divorce.

This really is a 'friend' (ie not me). She has asked me for advice and I don't know what to tell her. So input from you would be welcome.

She and her boyfriend were given the position as "host management couple" at a resort, but only as the backup couple in case the fullterm host couple can;t host for whatever reason. Her boyfriend supplements this income by being a tour guide. they live at the resort.

They soon discovered that the full-time host couple are threatened by them and try to make their lives difficult. Furthermore, the head tour guide has been hitting on my friend from day one. As her boyfriend works under him, she took a long time before complaining. Now that she has laid a complaint, this guy is victimising her boyfriend by not giving him work. Also, the owners of the resort have demoted them as backup host couple "until the situation is resolved".

They both really need the cash but are very unhappy and don't know what to do.

I need to get life Insurance for my husband (42 yrs. old) who has a mental disability called Paranoid Schizophrania. We had life insurance for him before, but when he got sick, and had to leave his job, we ran into hard times. I was the only source of income at the time, and it was only enough for the basic necessities in life. I couldn't keep the payments on his insurance. We waited months to hear something from Social Security Disability, and by that time I had lost his insurance.
When we started getting a little more income from his disability, and applied at different Insurance Companies for Insurance for him , they turn him down. They considered people with mental disabilities a risk. The Insurance Companies didn't say this in so many words, but when you answered their health questions truthfully, and get denied. It's not hard to figure out. We ended up getting him burial insurance, but we both are bothered that he can't leave much to me and our daughter. I do have a policy.

I was fooling around in eBay, so I went to the real state category and I was amazed of how cheap they were selling land in West Texas, so I figured it must be a scam or something, but the sellers had 100% positive feedback and were listed since 1999 or 2000, anyone knows why?
