What type of things would you have them do for you?

I am selling my house for cash to an investor. There is a small 15k loan on the house. This means the bank will be involved in the transaction.
The investor is doing most/all of the paperwork.
Should I hire a lawyer to check all the paper work?
Or as long as the cashiers check has the right numbers on it will I be ok?
My thinking is I DO NOT need an attorney because the bank will be watching its own interests, therefore unintentionally watching mine as well.

What do you think Yahoo's?

I work in an office of about 10 people and about half of us speak spanish. My boss has now prohibited us from speaking spanish because someone complained that they were offended. Does my work have the right to do this? Is this an infringement on my first amendment rights? I need to have some facts before I fight back. Any help is appreciated.

I can understand not coming to work all dirty and stinky or not coming to work dressed to go to the beach or something. But, why do people have to get so darned dressed up in suits and their hair done conservatively or whatever to go to work? Why not just some jeans and t-shirts or something?

In all this national talk about foreclosures, does anyone with a legal background know what happens to the homeowners if the bank short sells the property for a lot less than is owed on it because there are no buyers. Suppose there are just NO buyers and the bank forecloses on a house that is appraised at $500K but there is a $350K loan on it. But even with such a large discount the bank still can't sell the property for $350K and instead sells it for $275K. Does it still attempt to collect the difference from the original homeowner -- after all, it's not the homeowner's fault that the bank took a bad offer b/c it was unwilling to wait for a better one.

we bought a home together last year and have been equally splitting the mortgage since then. however, i put down the majority of the down payment on the home. can someone help me figure out an equation by which to determine who owns what percentage of our home--as in if i wanted to buy it from him, or vice versa, how would we go about figuring out what that value/number would be?

thanks!

I've been with this bank for two years and have only had one overdraft error which was reduced by half when I asked them.

Well recently I just overdrew on my account again so what are my chances of them reducing my fees or reversing anything. What can I say to them? Any tips?

I'm in point of my life where i have to choose from a house or a new car. My delima is, i need a new and reliable car to get to work in. My car is my asset, and i drive a good amount of miles. I know that it would be more wise to invest in a house because of the struggling market now but, if you dont have a car to get to work with then you won't have money to pay your mortgage. I'm still in college majoring in finance, will finish in two semester what should i do?

Just heard on the news last night that American Mortgage went bankrupt and all those who were paying into an escrow account lost all their money! Apparently, that money isn't insured so they all ended up having to pay taxes twice.

In today's market, it seems like this is a risk we all face. If it's not insured, what's the point of paying into an escrow account?

Why not just put that money aside on our own?

I am a qualified Computer Engineer (MCSE) with 20 years experience in the field. I moved to Perth, Australia 2 years ago with a permanent residency visa, granted because of my experience and qualifications and due to a supposed lack of people in my industry.
I have since tried to setup a computer business for software and a general computer services company with very little success despite spending considerable sums of cash on marketing via flyers etc.
My small customer base always have me back so quality of work is not an issue, I am just struggling to get enough customers to make ends meet.
So, is it time to just give up and go work for a corporation again? I did this for a few years and know that I wont get any job satisfaction from it but at least I will be earning some cash.
I also considered re-training for a new career but at 37 I may be too late to do that.
Has anyone here had similar experience with setting up in business? Or has anyone retrained this late in life?

I was just on Yahoo's home page and saw an ad for Countrywide... But yesterday I heard on the radio that they're asking for ANOTHER $2bil after Bank of America already invested the same amount.

Are they still making mortgages? How? Why? I'm so confused!!!

i purchased 15 in gas today on my debit card.....then i went to the bank withdrew some money and notice my balance was off quite a bit...so i called the banks hotline and the lady said they are putting a hold on ppls accounts for 49 dollars until the money clears for the gas (which usually takes about 2 days) since a lot of people keep overdrawing their accounts to get gas. I live in NY state. She said they started doing this at the end of July....anyone else have this happen? She told me the money would go back into my account once the 15 dollars goes through.

I, my boyfriend and MY 3 kids have lived together for almost three years. We have a new landlord that is asking us to sign a lease agreement. My boyfriend only wants his name on the lease. I don't mind, yet, I want to be legally protected incase something happens (ie. him saying get out because we are fighting etc.) I was the only one on the first initial agreement that has ended as of July 2006 and I believe he only wants his name on the lease so that he has the sole power over myself and my kids with the power to kick me and my kids out on a whims notice. What can I do to protect myself without having to sign into a lease. The new landlords know that WE all live in this apartment and have for almost three years. I will be the one in control of making sure the landlord receives the rent and will be making most communications. Can I have something on the side with the landlord as a seperate tenant or what will it take to protect myself and my three kids?

Can you claim the tax back for using your own car for work?

I use my own car and the company provide a fuel card and pay for one service per year. What tax can I claim back?

My sales guy uses his own car and also gets a fuel card plus an monthly car allowance (pays for own servicing).

Also if we advertised the company logo and phone number on the back of our cars is there any tax reward for this?

Thanks
